Pretty Incredible

Some Directions For Sunday At Our New Location

I'd like to give you a little help that will make things a little smoother for your arrival at our new location in Cicero for Sunday Services. I'd like to ask that you park in the parking lot at the rear of the Church and enter on the west side (Pearl Street entrance). There is ample parking there, but be mindful if you are one of the first ones there, that there is an alley immediately behind the Church and we should not block that in the event emergency vehicles would need to pass through there. There is parking all along the west side near the doors, but I'd like to ask if you could reserve those spots for our elderly and those who have difficulty walking any sort of distance. I'm thinking of Jay Hiatt, Betty VanWinkle, Mary Gunn, and others in that catagory. You may also park in front of the church on Jackson Street and you can enter from the front, but bulletins and greeters will be at the west entrance. I will hold our adult Sunday School Class in the Sanctuary and we will dismiss a bit early as people begin to arrive. I realize that this first Sunday will be a time of learning for all of us and a time of getting adjusted, but I'm sure if we all work together, it will be a wonderful time of gathering for Worship. If you know of someone who has not heard about our new location, please give them a call. Remember there are some who do not have computers and are unaware of all that has been happening this past week. I'd appreciate you spreading the word. And - if you know someone up in that area that does not have a Church - why not invite them to come and worship with us!!

Mike Haemmerle tells me that a friend of his is going to provide a new sound system for our use in the new facility while we are there and we will still be able to record our services!!! I'm just amazed over the outpouring of so many people to our Church family. This will all work and I look so forward to gathering on Sunday!

GOOD NEWS ON INSPECTION!!!!

I just wanted to inform all of you that the Structural Engineer examined the Church today and found that it can be "beefed up" with additional support in the attic to save our lovely building! That means that the roof DOES NOT have to come off! He will do a report and give the necessary requirements to accomplish this, then the Trustees will need to get bids for the work to begin! Since we are out of the building, it has been decided that the walls need to be re-done and the ceiling restored, so this is an excellent time to refurbish our Sanctuary and bring it up to date so it will hopefully last another 140 years!! This process may take some time, but we are thankful that the roof can be saved in turn saving us a lot of money! I'm sure it will be expensive to hire the re-structuring in the attic done, but shouldn't be as costly as removing the whole roof and starting from scratch. I'm thankful for the Bible Study group coming to help pack up hymnals and clear out the back room behind the pulpit area. I was told today that my office could remain in tact and it would be sealed off during construction so dust will not enter that part of the church! I'm thankful for that as I was going to have the Bible Study Group pack up all of my books!! Since the roof is not coming off, that won't need to be done. We just praise the Lord for this good news!

In spite of all of this, we are looking forward to Worshipping in Cicero and pray that all of you will come and help us hold our church family together during this time. Who knows - we might draw some new people to our Church being in town!! There is a reason for all of this and in the end, the Lord will reveal His purposes to us.

In lieu of Bible Study...

Hi all! As many of you already know, we are not going to have Bible Study this week, but I would like to suggest to all of you who usually come to come to the church anyway so that we can all help with the various things that need to be done to prepare for worship in our temporary building. This is something we all need to be involved in as a Church Family, and Bob can't do everything on his own, so those of you who can help, come on over to the church tomorrow evening at around 6:30 (when we usually have Bible Study) so that we can help make this transition as smooth as possible. I will be there and I'm pretty sure Bob will be there, so we'd really appreciate any help you could bring.

God is love,

Will

prayers

Today is the inspection of the meetinghouse. It is 138 years old. I sure do love this old church. Can't wait to get back there. I am so pleased we have a nice place to worship together on Sunday's until then. I pray the inspection goes well. I pray for protection of everyone who will be working on the church to rebuild her. I pray for all of us, that we will remain strong in our faith and stay close to God during this time. I pray for Bob and Paulette, I pray that Jesus will give them comfort and strength. I pray we are back on Hinkle Road soon. I thank God for all he has done for us. I thank God for keeping us safe. I thank him for his love and faithfulness. Thank You Jesus for being with us when we need you most. Thank You Lord for everything you do for us. We will continue as a Church Family, we will continue to Praise Gods name in song. We will still come together as one to share in his magnifient love. God is great.

A LETTER FROM KAY HARTLEY

Good morning Friends,

Kay Hartley is being so gracious to us for not making us sign any sort of contract with her on the use of the building. It is a month by month agreement until our situation at Hinkle is resolved. Rather than a contract, Kay wrote the following letter to our congregation and I wanted to share it with you since it involves us all.

Dear Robert, Paulette and Friends of Hinkle Creek Friends Church,

As I stated to Robert and Paulette, the monthly rent shall be $500.00. I will strive to keep it at that level unless there is a marked increase in the utilities or taxes.

I understand that you have excellent custodians. I ask that you keep your leased areas clean including the sanctuary, overfow rooms to the east of the building, rest rooms that you use on the upper level and the common areas (entries, hall, etc. that you use).

Please furnish the rest rooms on the upper level with toilet paper and toweling. Please keep the waste paper bins empty after the Sunday morning services.

We may use the sanctuary occasionally for funerals or weddings. If we do we will notify you in advance. We will not schedule anything that would conflict with you worshipping here. And we will have an attendant on duty at all times when others are using the areas sactioned by us for the purpose of protecting our property and yours. (We have had one funeral in the sanctuary this year and no weddings so far).

Your Pator or anyone who works for your church for the purpose of cleaning, processing bulletins, etc. may have access to the church at any time. However, please be mindful of the cost of utilities. Please keep the heat thermostat to 55-60 degrees and the air conditioning at 80 degrees when not occupying the sanctuary.

You may have weddings at the The Abbey. However, any extra function will be an additional charge. Also please keep in mind that the sanctuary has seating for approximately 125 maxiumum. Therefore very large weddings could not be held here. I have not arrived at a specific fee but will advise you if you are interested in have this option. (I am in the process of hiring someone on a part time basis to be an attendant for the extra functions we may host in the fellowship area on the lower level and for any other extra functions we allow in the building. When we work out the details I will have a better idea of costs).

Please do not let children roam the building. The south wing of the building (formerly Sunday School Classrooms) have been converted to office space. There are ten offices in this building. Not all are occupied as I have three vacancies. I do not want to lose the tenants I have and hope to fill the vacant offices. The taxes on this facility are very expensive and the utilities are substantial as well. Therefore I will appreciate your help.

All utilities are included with the exception of telephone and trash hauling. You may install a land line in the Pastor's office if you would like. Paper type trash can be taken home with one of your members or you may place it in the north entry area and I will dispose of it. Also the dumpster on the back of the parking lot can be used.

Welcome! I am glad to have you worship here. This building was erected to be a house of worship and I hope it can always be. I will try to assist you in any way I can.

Your friend in Christ,

Kay Hartley

I feel like these are very reasonable expectations of us and have no problem with it at all. I believe our congregation will do all we can to keep the facility clean and would never violate any of her requests. I feel like we are a good match for her and her for us! Kay plans to worship with us the first Sunday we are there! So, we certainly want to welcome and thank her for making this available to us.

A WORD FOR TODAY

In my devotions this morning and thinking about us not being together today, I felt like I still needed to pass along a word to all of you. The words found in Romans
12: 4-12 seem to be words that apply to us at this time.

"For as we have many members in one body, and all member have not the same office; So we, being may, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhoteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cherrfulness. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer."

I've read these words many times and have preached on them in the past, but today, they seem to leap off the page and fit us as a congregation as we walk together down this new path in the life of Hinkle Creek Friends. It's so important that we particularly take that last verse to heart "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer!"

There is a rainbow of promises out there for Hinkle Creek Friends and I for one will be watching for that everyday!!!!!

I love and miss all of you today and am looking forward to us being together again next Sunday!

FUTURE WORSHIP ACCOMODATIONS

Good morning Friends!

Well, it is official! We now have a place to gather for Worship while our problems with the Meeting House are being resolved. Starting Sunday, September 5th, we will hold our services at the Old Cicero Christian Church located at 269 W. Jackson St., Cicero. There is a nice Sanctuary with nice padded pews that will seat approximately 125 people. There is parking in the rear of the building which will hold 60 plus cars along with parking on the street. We have found it would be closer, safer, and easier to enter the building on the west side to access the Sanctuary. We are scheduling things to be moved there to hopefully make us all feel at home. The piano is scheduled to be moved this coming Wednesday with some of the furniture to go in on Thursday. We plan to have everything in place and ready for our congregation by that Sunday. I encourage us all to continue to come together even if we are at a different location. Of all times - we need to hang together and become even stronger! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! Our Worship times will be the same as always. Sunday School at 9:30 and Worship at 10:30. The Adult Sunday School class will be held in the Sanctuary then dismiss early enough to accomodate our congregation coming in for Worship. There will be a place for the children to go for their time during Worship, so hopefully we can make all of this work. Continue to pray about our situation with the Church Building.

Whether you worship at home, or choose to go elsewhere tomorrow, I pray you will have a blessed Sunday. I'll sure miss all of you!

PRAYER LIST

Until we figure out how we are going to do bulletins and inform you of the latest Prayer Concerns, I thought this would be a good way to keep you abreast. I received an email this morning that Jerry Snyder who writes a weekly column in the Noblesville Times and is a friend and former neighbor to Bonnie Zarins, has suffered a massive stroke and is in the ICU at Riverview Hospital. If you have any other prayer concerns, please post them on here or let me know so I can post it for you.

LATEST

Good morning Friends. I don't have much to report on the Church other than the Structural Engineer is scheduled to come and look in our attic on Monday around
12:30. As soon as we know more, we will post it here to keep you informed. In the meantime, the Trustees, Ministry & Counsel, and Clerk John Chambers and myself will be meeting on Saturday morning to view an available Church for us to use during all of this process. Kay Hartley has graciously made available the old Cicero Christian Church located at 269 W. Jackson St., Cicero for us to Worship in. The Church is already equipped with pews along with a couple of side rooms for classes, nursery, etc. and will be available next Sunday (September 5th). The Church seats 125 people, so this should meet our needs during the interim if they approve of us moving there. Keep this meeting in your prayers. REMEMBER - our Church consists of all of us no matter where we gather to Worship! More information will be posted on this after Saturday morning's meeting. I have posted a sign on both the front and back doors of Hinkle notifying anyone who may show up this Sunday that services are cancelled. If any of you have anything to add, please feel free to post! We are all very interested in what is happening on this front!

Another couple of neat phone calls I received: We have been offered to move and store our pews during the renovation by Eagle Creek Friends Church! They have a large gymnasium that is seldom used and said we could store them there as long as we needed to. Another call came from Westfield Friends Church offering their Fellowship Hall and said they would help us if we would like to host a music night or any other function to serve as a fund raiser to help with our expenses on the building! Noblesville Friends also called and offered their facility for anything we need. It's just awesome to hear from all of these wonderful Friends who are reaching out to our congregation. Remember how God said He knows our needs before we do!!! This is certainly coming into play at this time!

UPDATE ON INSPECTION

Hello Friends! The Building Inspector came to look in the attic and when he saw all of the "barn beam" construction, he said being a public building and with it's age, it was beyond his expertise. He did however, give his personal opinion after looking it over. Several of the Mortise joints have come loose and there is a lot of pressure on the beam that runs north and south. In fact, that beam is covered with a metal plate and it is bent toward the east indicating a lot of pressure on it. We discovered another beam that we hadn't seen before that is pushing upwards and has caused and large bump out on the north side roof. The whole structure is very unstable in his opinion and recommended an Engineer that knows about this type of construction and who will tell us what needs to be done. He felt in the meantime, it was unsafe for people to be in there. That was only his personal opinion and not official, but I know Phil has inspected many buildings and knows what he is looking for. He did look at the foundation and felt it was ok and the crack that is there was likely caused by water at some point not getting away from the Church. That has been resolved, so he recommended tuck pointing that crack.

We have a name of a good Stuctural Engineer who specializes in this area and he will be called tomorrow to make an appointment. Taking pictures is almost impossible to give the full affect of what is up there. You almost need to see the whole thing and how it ties together. It's just too dark to get accurate pictures that anyone could do any studies by. I will be talking to the Trustees to see if we can quickly get the pews, pulpit, cross, sound system etc. out of there. The piano is scheduled to be moved on Wednesday. It's just not something we can do ourselves without taking a chance of ruining it. I'm going to recommend that we at least cover the piano with plywood until it is moved. Not sure if that will do a lot of good, but it's the best I can think of at this point.

So, it appears this may be a long process of our building becoming safe again. I'm glad the Lord looked over us so we could Worship in there one last time last Sunday. Please pray for all of this process as it continues.

NEED YOUR HELP!

When you were at Church on Sunday - if you noticed someone was missing, please make a contact with them to let them know about services being cancelled this Sunday. I will post a note on the door for Sunday, but I'd hate to have people show up and no one there. So, put on your thinking hats and if you think of someone, please let them know. I'll post more information later as it is approved, but it is looking like we will have a place to worship the following Sunday! God is so good!!! He promised He would never leave or forsake us!!!

From Squeak-thanks Squeak this is awesome.

A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...

You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying A word.
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.
Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."  "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.
Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma the daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its insides became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?
Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
May we all be COFFEE!!!!!! !!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Just want to wish a very happy birthday to our own Jeff VanWinkle today! Hope you have a great day! God Bless you!!!

White River Christian Church Food Pantry Newsletter-submitted by Bev Stewart

We served 94 families last Thursday including 7 new families.  We were blessed with a semi load of food that was shared between us and 2 other churches last Monday.  Thank you to the 8 people that helped load and unload the food and the 16 that helped on Monday evening to put it on the shelves.  Tuesday we had 14 more volunteers that helped put items on the shelves to get ready for Thursday.
We were again blessed on Thursday morning when 7 of our volunteers went to Midwest Food Bank and volunteered there in the morning and came back to our pantry with a truckload of donations in the afternoon. Another 28 volunteers helped us put that food on the shelves and serve our families in the afternoon.  As you can see it takes a number of volunteers so we are always in need of new people to help us.
Thanks to everyone that donated fresh produce. Our families were excited to get tomato's and peppers, cucumbers and potato's.  Nichols consignment in Noblesville donated a large amount of clothes that were folded and hung for families to pick through.  Many cute items for school were taken home.
Our needs this week include oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup, sugar, boxed dinners, beans, canned meats, toilet paper and toiletries.  Thank you for all of your donations and prayers for the pantry. They are truly felt.

GET YOUR FLAG  READY!
THE PROGRAM:
On Saturday, September 11th,  2010, an American flag should
be displayed outside every  home, apartment, office, and store
in the United States.  Every individual should make it their
duty to display an  American flag on this ninth anniversary of
one our country's worst tragedies. We do this honor of those
who  lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved
ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today  are
fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished
freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months  following 9/11, our country
was bathed in American flags  as citizens mourned the incredible
losses and stood  shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly,
those flags  have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled
us through  some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack
to  galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric
of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism  of
all kinds.

A God thing...People say that for a reason

On saturday I was talking to Kyndrick (My daughter Stephanie's boyfriend of three years) and he was telling me that he had gone on a day Mission trip to Indianapolis with a group from White River Christian Church. They went to the Lighthouse Mission to take some folks bowling. Just for a day of fun and fellowship.

Kyndrick has been feeling a little low Spiritually ever since he got back from College at the beginning of the Summer. Kyndrick had told Fred, who was the Pastor from WRCC who was with them that day, about how he had been feeling. He has even spoken to me of this before. It's uncommon for Kyndrick to feel this way, he has always been strong in his faith and I was concerned for him.

Anyway, they found some guys who wanted to go bowling with them, and these guys we all without homes and they relied on the Lighthouse Mission for things like hot meals and a place to wash their clothes. Yet, it seems this day one of them had a gift for Kyndrick. An unexpected and beautiful message.Kyndrick was surprised to find that all of them were already Christians. Before they left to go bowling one of them said, yeah, lets go, but first I have a message for HIM! (And pointed right at Kyndrick.) And then he said, "But it's private." Now, this man knew nothing of the conversation Kyndrick had with Fred. Yet he pulled him aside and told him that he wanted to make sure that he fully understood that God's love is real.  And that he must fight to keep his faith. He said that God has a plan for his life and he must stay close to Jesus always. Kyndrick was blown away. As Kyndrick was telling me this story I was thinking how proud of him I was for still going with the Group to Indy eventhough he was having doubts and I was thinking God would bless him for that. I had a strong feeling about this but I didn't say anything.

Three minutes later Mike called me and told me to tell Kyndrick to be ready, he was coming to pick him up and take him somewhere, he needed his help doing something. Now, Kyndrick has just recently joined a really good Christian Band. They are traveling all over the Country Glorifying the name of God. People come to Christ at their shows. This is an amazing opportunity for Kyndrick. But Kyndrick's guitar isn't quite up to the task. Sort of like Kyndricks heart, help was needed. Now, the reason Mike called was that God had put it on Mikes heart to help him get a new guitar. He took Kyndrick to the music store and loaned him the down payment for a brand new beautiful guitar. And he put the rest on his account so Kyndrick can pay it off in time. Kyndrick leaves for the East Coast on Friday with his new guitar and his faith uplifted substantially. I don't think anyone has ever done anything like that for him before. I love that Mike had such compassion for him and followed through with Gods prompting. Sometimes God moves so fast. It's so impressive to witness. I just wanted to share that story with you. Kyndrick told me I could. He was stunned by Mikes offer to help him out. And Mike had offered without being asked, he just knew. I am not telling you this to brag on Mike. I am telling you this as a reminder of Gods faithfulness. He loves us so much and keeps his eye on us and even when we have small hurts, he cares and he uses all things to bring together his plan.

I encourage thee...

Hello!, I just wanted to send out a little message to encourage everyone to participate in the blog. It is a great way to keep in touch and since we will miss worship next week it's even more important that we keep the lines of communication open. You can either post something or even just comment on someone else's post. Will, we would love to hear from you. We miss your essays on here. And Casey, please continue to bring us poems. And anyone else that has anything to share, please feel free to do so. And if you can't post something for some reason send me an email with your message and I will be more than happy to post it for you. haemmertime1@aol.com

I will be putting updates on here from the upcoming trustees and ministry and counsel meetings so everyone knows how things are moving along. We willl be deciding soon where we will be meeting in two weeks and we want to make sure everyone has all the info they need so we can all be together again very soon.

You know Church on Sunday was really powerful. It seemed like there was a movement of repentance in the air that I had not felt before. It was really beautiful to feel the Holy spirit honor the promise of forgiveness in such a powerful way. Certainly I pray for forgiveness almost daily but to do that as a church family felt really right especially since it happened so naturally. did anyone else feel this way?

I am also very excited that the Youth Group will be getting together on Thursday, September 9th at 6:30 at the Haemmerle's house. We had a break from Youth Group after Quaker Haven camp. Summer schedules are so hectic! But now we are looking forward to picking up where we left off. Will's guidance will be especially appreciated as we move through the next several months.Thank you will, we really appreciate all you do for us.

So, if you could, just leave a little comment after this post so I know you are out there and this Blog is useful to you!

Did you know we had like 76 people at church on Sunday? That is a very encouraging number. Our Church is so important to this community. Our spiritual growth comes from our associtaion with each other. That's how God designed us. Our strenght lies in our fellowship and love for one another.

Thank You all so very much,

Love,

Kelly

Hinkle Creek Friends

Wow, what a day. This morning was really hard. I just want to say that I love you all so much. I wanted to say that before I go to bed tonight. I want you all to know how very much you mean to me. I only see most of you for a few minutes once a week but I feel like we are a family. I guess we are bound to one another by our love for God. We are one. I loved hearing all of the encouraging words from everyone today. Such optimism is quite a blessing indeed. Many tears were shed this morning. Our old church needs our help. What an honor to be the ones who have the privilege of working together to strengthen our church and our faith. These things will serve the future of our Church in meaningful and lasting ways. Let's pray for clear direction from God during this time of renewal at Hinkle.

Love, Kelly

97.9

http://www.moodyradioindiana.fm/

I don't know if anyone listens to Christian Radio or not. I have recently started listening to 97.9 and I have really enjoyed it. This morning on the way to work I heard a beautiful version of How Great Thou Art and then there was a sermon about how Christians are a community and how that is so important. And then just now I heard a beautiful sermon about asking God for wisdom and how God knows your heart. How God is always the same.I have been really uplifted and encouraged by having these messages on my radio when I am driving to and from work. Anyway, just thought I'd share. ~Kelly

Steve Winwood, Will Jennings song ~ Higher Love

Think about it, there must be higher love
Down in the heart or hidden in the stars above
Without it, life is a wasted time
Look inside your heart, I?ll look inside mine
Things look so bad everywhereIn this whole world, what is fair?
We walk blind and we try to see
Falling behind in what could be
Bring me a higher loveBring me a higher loveBring me a higher love
Where's that higher love I keep thinking of?
Worlds are turning and we're just hanging on
Facing our fear and standing out there alone
A yearning, and it's real to me
There must be someone who's feeling for me
Things look so bad everywhereIn this whole world, what is fair?
We walk blind and we try to see
Falling behind in what could be
Bring me a higher loveBring me a higher loveBring me a higher love
Where?s that higher love I keep thinking of?
Bring me a higher loveBring me a higher loveBring be a higher love
I could rise above on a higher love
I will wait for it
I'm not too late for it
Until then, I?ll sing my song
To cheer the night along
Bring it...oh bring it...
I could light the night up with my soul on fire
I could make the sun shine from pure desire
Let me feel that love come over me
Let me feel how strong it could be
Bring me a higher loveBring me a higher loveBring me a higher loveWhere's that higher love I keep thinking of?

This makes me think of our church family

John 13:34-35 (New International Version)

34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Sunday Services

I apologize to all who depend on a CD from the Services, but we failed to get the service recorded. I tried to listen to it, but for some reason it did not record on the CD. So, we will try to do better for next week. Sorry!

We have a new baby in the Family! Our dear friends Sam and Ramie were in town from Illinois this weekend for Nancy and Bobby's wedding. Saturday Night, after the wedding reception, Ramies water broke and we took her straight to the hospital. Isaac was born last night at 9:00. Praise God for this beautiful, healthy baby boy! Thank you Jesus!

Pray for our Trustees!!!!!

I went up to the Church to have a wedding rehearsal and to my surprise and shock, the old ceiling tile in the Sanctuary has fallen to the floor along the sound end! It was like a domino affect and several tiles came down. The rest of the ceiling is now buckled in places, so it is dangerous to be in there at this time. The trustees are meeting in the morning and going to have to tear out the rest of the tile so we can have Church on Sunday and a wedding tomorrow night!!!! What it did though, was expose the most beautiful tin ceiling I've ever seen!!! So pray for our guys as they work to get that out and decide where we go from here.
The second True Woman '10 Conference will be held at the Indiana Convention Center on September 23-25, 2010. Located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, this center seats 9,000 people.

Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, "I see men like trees, walking." Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.
Mark 8:22-25
"Do you see anything?" After spitting on a blind man's eyes, Jesus placed His hands on the man and asked him this telling question. It's a strange scenario, isn't it? Would you or I ever think to spit on someone's eyes to heal them? Just as we saw in Mark 7:32, Jesus uses ordinary means to make supernatural things happen. But the man's vision was not yet fully restored. "I see men like trees, walking," he told Jesus. His vision was blurred and all he could see were shadows of unclear images. Verse 25 says Jesus once again put His hands on the man and his sight was fully restored. The man needed a second touch from Jesus.
Sometimes, as followers of Jesus Christ, we need a second touch from Jesus. We sometimes lose sight of God's will in our lives. Maybe family or financial stresses steal our attention, or we get tired of "church" because someone offended us. Maybe a past failure has caused our vision to become blurry, or our pride is blinding us altogether. When you look to the Lord, do you see anything? Are His ways clear to you? Do you understand His purpose for your life, and see His guidance of your every step? Or do you only see the junk that's on nearly every magazine, billboard, DVD, and television show? Are you blinded by the materialism and pornography that causes you to stumble in your faith? Today, wherever you are and whatever you are experiencing, Jesus is willing to touch your life... maybe for the second (or third or fourth or fiftieth) time. You see, Jesus never gives up on you.
Maybe today you need a second touch from the Master. Not only is He right there asking if you can see -- He is also ready to heal your wounds and make you whole. If so, just pray right where you are and simply ask Him to heal you. He loves you so much and wants to bless you abundantly.

Food for the Hungry was founded in 1971 and gave birth to the ministry now at work in more than 26 countries worldwide. Since then, Food for the Hungry has boldly spoken out for and served the poor, sending courageous heroes to help communities transform themselves. Founder Dr. Larry Ward held to the simple premise that “they die one at a time, and so we can help them one at a time.” Again and again, we turn to the words from Scripture from which our name emerged, “He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry,” Psalm 146:7.

Food for the Hungry’s journey to being a leading Christian ministry – and one of the most efficient – has traversed different periods of growth and transformation:

Purpose Driven Life

I happened to come across two Purpose Drive Life books at Goodwill. I purchased them incase anyone would like to have them. I'm more than willing to give them to anyone who wants them for the Sunday school class. I invested $2 in each book, and that is all I ask in return. I'll bring them on Sunday. Let me know if you are interested! -Pat

This Beautiful Church

The world is full of harsh ways

But this church is my safe place

The peace here always stays

Along with the smile on my face

With everything we say and do

The love we have will always show

Things may be different for you

But what it is to me, you should know

It doesn’t matter

What happens beyond these walls

Your life may shatter

But everything’s okay when you walk down these halls

You walk in that door

And you feel like you’re whole

Your feet touch this floor

And your heart will be full

You can cry here

And we will help you through

For each tear

A hand reaches out to you

We come to praise the lord

To feel the love he may spread

Release the demons we have stored

And hear the words he had said

But the bond here goes deep

And in certain ways we are the same

We all want something that isn’t cheap

Something inside, not money or fame

When we are going down hill

We can always pray

But if the pain won’t be still

We can listen to what each other say

This church was blessed with God’s grace

But also with each person that sits before me

Each one of you makes this a wonderful place

Anyone who walks through that door will see

Last Evening

Good morning everyone! I don't know about you, but I was just blown away with the great evening we had with the Concert last night! I had heard Woody perform before, but he and his lovely wife Vonnie really out did themselves for us! Anyone who missed that really lost out on a wonderful evening. I was so impressed with this great couple who were so down to earth, humble, and so talented. In my private conversations with them, they said they wish our Church was 30 miles closer to them as they would certainly be attending Hinkle Creek Friends! I invited them to come and worship with us anytime they wanted and our Church could serve as a quiet retreat from their busy lives and we wouldn't even ask them to do anything - just come and be a part of our Church Family. They genuinely appreciate that invitation and asked what time our services started. People of that caliber need to be able to come to a "safe place" where they can just get off the world for a while and enjoy all that we do. I want us to be their "new friends" and hopefully they will come soon and join us. Thank you to everyone who helped to contribute both financially and with desserts to make it such a successful evening! Some people who reserved tickets didn't make it, so we fell about $120.00 short of our sales, but what a small amount for our Church to pay for such a wonderful outreach and wonderful concert. Thank you to Jeff and Mike for sharing their beautiful gifts of music to add so much to the evening! I felt like a proud parent having them both bring such beautiful music! Thank you Kelly for engineering all of this for us. You did an outstanding job of pulling it all off!!! Hopefully we can have them back again someday and we will have a larger attendance. Woke up this morning with my head just full of the memories from last evening and had to put it in writing! Forgive me for rambling! LOL!

What has the Lord done for you?

Just a quick reminder that we are going to have a "Testimony" service tomorrow! Seems like I do all the talking and I would love to hear from all of you on how God has blessed you recently. With all of the time limits for tomorrow, I thought this would be a good Sunday for all of you to minister to one another! There are times I need to be fed too, and what a great opportunity for me to be ministered to by all of you! So, pray about that and be prepared to come and share with your Church Family the good things that God has done for you!

If I Could Live Among The Trees

Good Morning! A couple days ago I got really stressed out, so I decided to make this collage out of my favorite thing; trees! It took me a while but i really like how it came out, and I thought that I would share it with all of you! Have a magnificent day!

With love, Casey (:

995

This is Post # 995. So, in five more posts we will have reached the 1,000 mark.
The very first post was on May 14, 2009. So, that averages out to around 70 posts a month.
We have about twenty subscribers and that is only one fourth of our usual Sunday attendance number.
Maybe some people don't access the internet but I bet some do but they just haven't been invited.
So,if you know of anyone who might like to be a part of the blog, just give me their email address and I will send them an invite!

Thank You!

Kelly

Earlham College's president announces retirement

Richmond - Earlham College President Douglas Bennett has decided to step down next year after leading the school since 1997.
The 64-year-old Bennett announced Wednesday he would retire at the end of June 2011, saying it was time to pass the job on to someone else. He said that as a Quaker it has been a perfect job for him to lead the Quaker-affiliated college in Richmond.
Bennett helped organize a dozen college presidents in 2007 for a protest of the U.S. News & World Report college rankings because they said the process mislead prospective students and encouraged gamesmanship.
Earlham trustees chairwoman Deborah Hull says Bennett has increased the national visibility of the 1,100-student college and helped it raise record amounts of money for its capital campaign.
