Prayer guide

When we met for prayer yesterday, the following was passed out for us to take home as a guide for us in knowing how to pray. I wanted to share it with you. I'm sorry for the length, but it is a wonderful prayer guide and a prayer that I desire to see answered. Thanks for allowing me the space to post this:


A prayer for the success of our annual sessions of Western Yearly Meeting of Friends Church

Father, in the name of Jesus, we approach the throne of grace boldly and confidently to make this petition on behalf of our church’s annual sessions. (Heb. 4:16) May the people of God called Friends come to the sessions dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty, with reverential fear of You and with no desire to please man (Ps. 91:1) May Friends walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh and may the fruit of the Holy Spirit be produced in our midst. (Gal. 5)

Father God, in the name of Jesus, we ask you to anoint each speaker to teach and preach the Word of God in simplicity, with boldness, and with accuracy. We ask that the Word would come forth in love and that those who hear will not be able to resist the wisdom, power, and truth from the Holy Spirit as it comes forth from those You have chosen to appear in public ministry. We ask also, Father, that you bind all spirits of deception, lying, division, selfish ambition, jealousy, and heresy and cast them out of the gathering of believers (Gal 5). Father, may we walk worthy of the calling to which we have been called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace so that it would be manifest among us that there is one body and one Spirit (Eph 4:1-4)

We ask that as Your Spirit teaches us that You will cause people to open their spiritual eyes and ears that they may see and hear and turn from darkness to light – from the power of satan to You, Father – and they will confess that Jesus is their Lord.

We commit and entrust these sessions to You, Lord. We believe, Father, that as we submit to You, we will be able to resist the devil and he will flee from us. We will be able to come near to You and You will come near to us. We will cleanse our hands and purify our hearts. We humble ourselves and know that You will lift us up. (James 4:7-10)

As your Word goes forth in these sessions, we know that it will accomplish what You please and will prosper in that for which You sent it. And we shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace. The mountains and hills will break forth into singing before us and even the trees of the fields will clap their hands. (Is 55:11-12) Your Word will be living and active among us, sharper than any two edged sword. We ask You, Lord, to meet every need of ours according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19).

We thank You, Lord God, that we know that we have these things we ask of You because they are in accordance with Your will and they will come to pass (1 John 5:14-15). May You remember this prayer and petitions we have made and be merciful to the people of God called Friends, so that all the nations of the world will know that You, Lord, alone are God-there is nos other, and may we Your people always be faithful and obedient to You (1 Kgs. 8:59-61). These things we ask in Jesus’ name and to the praise of His glory! Hallelujah! Amen.
