The following email explains the needs for the Food Pantry that Kathy Stewart spoke to us about on Sunday. I believe this a wonderful Ministry and we can all help.

Friends and Supporters of the WRCC Food Pantry
We had a total of 64 families last evening. 14 families were coming to the pantry for the first time. The most recurrent theme was a recent job loss and having difficulty finding a new one. Many expressed hope they would not have to come back but were very thankful for a place to get some food for their family in the interim. I always tell them none of us know when we will be in their shoes. That is especially true at this poor economic time.
We are so thankful and blessed by each donation that is brought in. Our already bare shelves were able to somehow serve those families who came to the pantry tonight. It makes me think about the story in the Bible of the little boys lunch that was able to feed 5000. God always seems to stretch the food we have to meet the needs of the evening. Thank you again for those of you who donated for the first time, those who have been faithful donors and those who felt led to donate for the first time. I know you and your family will be blessed! Our refrigerators and freezers are being used which is awesome. We were able to give every family some type of meat and/or cheese donation according to the size of their family. These families were surprised and greatful.
As far as needs for this week ANYTHING YOU ARE ABLE TO DONATE would be so appreciated. The most needed items are boxes of cereal, rice, beans, toilet paper, and canned fruit. We will be giving away laundry soap the first Thursday in August if you are able to donate a bottle. Thank you to everyone who reads this newsletter, prays for the pantry, donates time and items. We are here only to be servants and do Gods will but that would not be possible without each one of you. If you bring in donations during the week the annex is usually open Monday - Friday from 9-2 but of course things can be dropped off in the carts at church anytime the church is open.
Lastly, the Back to School Shoe Giveaway is Saturday, August 8th at 8:00am. We will be receiving the shoes for the Back to School event at an incredibly discounted price from Samaritan's Feet this year. They will be providing three pairs of shoes for each child to choose from (one pair per child) and we will be including foot washing as part of the process as is their policy. We need a small army of servants to help unload approximately 600 pairs of shoes and set up the gym for this event. Please email Sara Carrington at scarrington@wrcc.org if you plan to join us on Friday from 4-7?pm. We are unsure as to exactly how long the set up will take as this is a new process for us. There will be a brief but important instructional time following the set up, so please come after work even if it's well into the stated time.Every volunteer needs to understand the process well and be able to communicate a few things with our guests on Saturday. We'll need you at the gym at 7:15 am on Saturday as well. We should be done before noon. Don't worry, we'll have cheat sheets for you. It will be a powerful time of serving our neighbors in a personal and relational way. We'll bring the pizza, you bring the muscle!
