Hello Hinkle Creekers!
We have successfully moved our blog to a new site. It is www.hinklecreekfriends.org
Please send me an e-mail at haemmertime1@aol.com
and I will send you an invite so you may contribute to the discussion.
We are still working on trying to make it fit our needs, so please be patient and we would love to hear your feedback.
This blog has been pretty amazing. It's lasted several years. (Three I think) and had over 3,000 posts. The good new is we were able to transfer the entire contents of this blog onto the new site which is awesome. It might take some getting used to but in the long run it's a great choice for us because it combines our blog and our website. And it has many more features that once I figure out how to impliment them will be awesome tools for communication and expression. I guess the internet is part of the mission field we are to enter boldy and lovingly for Christ, and that is my prayer. I want to thank Rob Floyd for helping us make this much needed step up into the big leagues. Without him I would still be lost in my quandry of how to navigate this new territory. Rob is a graphic designer who designse websites . He graciously offered to help Hinkle Creek at no charge. I may send some invites out to folks who I think may like to post even if I don't get a request from you. I know there has been some confusion on how to post on this blog, so my hope is that the new site will be easier to use and we will have more people contributing.
Thank you for your patience!

The Pastors Wife
She stands among the shadows with a smile upon her face,
And quietly encourages with love, and strength and grace.
She always offers solace, and holds tightly to his hand,
And when he feels inadequate, he knows she'll understand.
She's ready with a listening ear for what he has to say,
But things she hears in confidence she never will betray.
Their time alone is limited because he has to be
Available to all the flock who need his ministry.
Yet still she's there when like a child he clings to her embrace,
And draws upon her comfort for the trials he must face.
She is the unsung heroine who helps his load to bear,
And lifts him up consistently with tender, loving care.
The world applauds a Pastor who can help to change a life,
But half the credit for success belongs to his dear Wife.
And quietly encourages with love, and strength and grace.
She always offers solace, and holds tightly to his hand,
And when he feels inadequate, he knows she'll understand.
She's ready with a listening ear for what he has to say,
But things she hears in confidence she never will betray.

Winona Terry
Jack Terry's wife Winona went peacefully home to the Lord this morning. Paulette and I have such fond memories of her and her loving and sweet spirit. She spoke to us at Hinkle along with Jack before becoming ill and we all enjoyed what she had to share about their work in the mission field. Please keep Jack and his family in your prayers today as they go through this.

Just an fyi for you! Our website is down. We are working on our new website and are hoping to have it up and running very soon. The good news is that it is a website/blog combined. So we will have one address instead of two. I think we will also link the website to our facebook page which is actually pretty active. If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know.
Thank you,
Kelly

God is Good!
What a wonderful service we had last evening! It's not too late to come to the School of Prayer. You will receive something even if you can come to one night of the sessions. To witness the Hand of God moving among our people at Hinkle was just awesome! Truly an answer to many months of praying and preparing. It will be held at 6:30 tonight, tomorrow night, and Wednesday night. What a historic time for Hinkle as we stand on a threshold of a new beginning as a Church body. I would love to see our whole congregation come to these sessions! I believe this is the beginning of a REAL revival in our community if we will all continue in the Spirit that was with us last evening. Please spread the great news of what is happening at Hinkle!

INFORMATION FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL OF PRAYER
First of all, this Sunday will be a bit different. We will NOT be having the adult Sunday School class in the Sanctuary and will eliminate the normal announcements, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. at the 10:20 time. We will begin the service promptly at 10:30 since it has been advertised as such. There will be an abbreviated Monthly Business Meeting following the Worship Service on Sunday and you are all welcome to come.
As the School of Prayer starts, please remember to bring your Bible, paper, pencil/pen, and pick up a workbook at the registration table. If you have not registered, please do so and pick up a name tag so we all know one another. Please put your name and Hinkle Creek Friends on your name tag.
There will be many guests coming to our Church for this event, so let's all make them feel welcome to Hinkle Creek Friends. What a great opportunity to reach out to those who may be unchurched. If you see that someone has a need, please step up and ask if you can assist them.
We still do not have very many signed up for finger foods for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. If you can bring something to help out Sharon, it would be greatly appreciated.
As I've been praying this morning, you have all been on my mind and praying that we as a Church Body will be fed and recieve just what we need through this ministry from James W. Tharp. What a great opportunity we have as a Church Body!
Remember that during the School of Prayer, we will NOT provide child care and these sessions will not be appropriate for children. Our Teens are certainly welcome and will hopefully learn much to enhance their continuing Study of the Scriptures. Children are welcome during the Sunday morning Services. The School of Prayer will actually start Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.

Church Family - We need to step up to the Plate!
Good morning Friends,
The time is upon us for the School of Prayer. Things have gotten really busy lately and not much time to do some finalizing of plans as a Host Church for this event. J.W. Tharp had mentioned that we should have a time of fellowship following each evening of the School of Prayer where we can break bread together and discuss what we have learned. The list for "finger foods" that was placed in the foyer on Sunday had very few signed up to bring food each evening. I have had MANY calls from people coming from a distance to attend these sessions, so I'm confident we will have a large crowd each evening and we as the host Church need to step up and be sure we have enough food to cover each evening. I realize this is a stretch of our already busy lives to add this to our agenda, but if you could just sacrifice some time to make or provide something to help out Sharon, it would be greatly appreciated. We certainly would not want to be short on food to break bread together. In the New Testament Church, that was very much a part of their gatherings and this event is a reflection of what they did in those days.
I have been disappointed that so many of our people have stayed away from services lately and I am in hopes that we will all "step up to plate" again in this area for this coming event. If you miss this, you will miss out on a great opportunity for some great ministry that has Eternal Consequences. Please pass the word and remind people that all of this starts this Sunday morning and continues on until Wednesday evening, the 15th. J.W. Tharp will bring this Sunday's message to get us prepared for the School of Prayer. I pray that the Lord will tug on all of our hearts to realize the importance of this with our attendance. We have planned this for a long time, and I for one am really looking forward to getting fed spiritually speaking. Tonight is sort of a kick off of this by meeting together in the Sanctuary at 6:30 for a time of Fasting and Prayer. There will be nothing formal about it all - just a time of us gathering and praying together. The fasting is private between you and the Lord and you don't have to say anything to anyone or even feel accountable to me for that. If you decide to accept the call to fasting along with your praying, I guarantee that the Lord will reward you for being faithful and sincere as we submit to Him. That is His promise to us! I have been and continue to be in prayer for this and looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for us as a congregation. I pray that we will all be more committed in all areas of our attachment as the body of Christ. Sometimes we just get tired and become a bit lazy in our committment (I do too!!!), but I know the rewards for being faithful and putting Him first will be life changing for us all. Just pouring my heart out this morning and pleading with us all (including me) to "Step up to the Plate" for the Lord!

When I want to be mean by Lisa TerKeurst
I recieved this essay via email from Annette and Velma. this is good stuff.
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV 1984)
I looked at the text message in complete disbelief. Why couldn't this person see how insensitive and hurtful they were being?
I don't know who made up the saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can't ever hurt me." Either they had nerves of steel or they lived on a deserted island with no other people. Because not only do words hurt me, but they make me want to fight back and be mean, too.
Have you ever had a little situation with someone where you just knew you were right and they were wrong? Or at least you could make a really good case for your side of things?
Oh how I have this burning need to state my case in these kinds of situations. It's like an inner attorney rises up desperate to defend my rights and get the other person to see things my way. This is pretty normal, right?
Yes. But normal doesn't always mean good. Especially in light of today's key verse.
Colossians 2:6-7 reminds me, "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." (NIV 1984)
I should live rooted in Jesus' teaching and overflow with thankfulness. The opposite of this is when I'm rooted in self-centered opinions and overflowing with grumbling. I need to let God show me how to see things from this other person's side and gain a different perspective. In doing so, I will be strengthened and taught.
Colossians 3:12-14 reminds me, "... as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." (NIV 1984)
My job isn't to fix this person or make them see my side of things. My job is to obey God by offering an extension of the forgiveness I've been given. But I can also stay healthy in this situation by remembering forgiveness doesn't mean giving this person access in my life that sets me up for destructive patterns.
Finally, Colossians 3:17 reminds me, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (NIV 1984)
Everything I do and say tells a story of who I serve. If I act out of anger and spite, I give in to the ways of the enemy, spreading his darkness. If I honor the Lord with my actions, I serve to further the Name of Jesus and spread His light.
At the end of the day, honoring God leads to good things. Anything else leads to confusion, emotional exhaustion and a lack of good things.
I processed the text message mentioned above with my husband. He said something that brought much clarity. "Lysa, you know when you've taken the high road, God blesses you. You've seen these blessings over and over as you've made choices that honor God. So chose a blessing today and save yourself the emotional turmoil of trying to prove you're right."
He's a smart man.
I know this isn't easy stuff. I'm having to live it in the midst of feeling hurt. But I'm also feeling more at peace being able to see another perspective—a healthier perspective—a biblical perspective. And I'm really excited about the blessings that are surely coming my way.
Dear Lord, You know the hurtful words and actions that have been pummeled my way. Please give me Your strength to not retaliate, but instead to react based on Your Truth. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

--Mahatma Gandhi
A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act. --Mahatma Gandhi
C.S. Lewis
A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic – on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg – or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.--
REMINDER!
Wanted to remind everyone that this Sunday at 5:30 is our Singspiration with guest pianist, Rowena Holliday. Her husband Jack who is the Pastor of Anderson Friends will help me lead us in a season of prayer following the sing time. Then, you know how are gatherings are: FOOD! Well, not exactly food, but an ice cream social follows the whole thing with ice cream from Alexander's along with all the toppings! Hope you all can come for this special evening. The piano will be tuned tomorrow for all the upcoming events at Hinkle.
Also, on Tuesday evening, August 7th, I have called for a Church wide Fast and Prayer at 6:30 at the Church. Rather than having food and Bible Study, we will meet in the Sanctuary and pray together for the upcoming School of Prayer. Fasting on Tuesday evening is voluntary, but there will be no food at the Church that evening. Let's all come together as they did throughout the Bible at special times to Fast and Pray together in "one accord".

Decisions and Their Cost by Bill Brinkworth
What makes the difference between a strong Christian and a weak Christian? Much of the time it has to do with a Christian’s making the right decisions, sticking with what was decided, and as a result, becoming spiritually stronger.
The pastor of a church usually has made the right decision at more than one point in his life. He had to make the right decision of going to church, attending Sunday school, maybe even not working on Wednesday night; so he could attend services, reading his Bible, and daily praying. After showing himself faithful with what God appointed him to do, God knew He could trust the man with further tasks.Somewhere in his life, God spoke to his heart about full-time service and serving the Lord with his life. The man of God not only heard the call, but also committed himself to that task; obeyed the call and sacrificed whatever it took to reach that goal. He, too, may have been tempted financially to work another job, rather than trust God with what little he was making, so that his time would be available to preach and pastor. The right decisions were made. The man obeyed.
One of the most spiritual people you know most likely also came to a similar decision in his life, and chose the right, godly direction. No one just wakes up one morning and says, “I will be spiritual today from now on.” His faith and obedience to God grew as his trials and tribulations strengthened him.
He probably had a choice of prosperity and opportunity, and chose the direction of serving and living for God; no matter what it cost him, or how his life would deviate from what his own desires were. Perhaps he faced medical trials, where he put his faith in God, rather than worry about it. Perhaps he faced the ridicule of family or friends about his faith and faithfulness to the things of God. He made the right decisions to be in the right position that others could see that God was real to him, and that He was more important than what this temporary world offered him. His faith and obedience to God grew as he decided properly through each trial and tribulation he faced.
Sunday school teachers in church had to make the right decisions. Somewhere in their lives, the burden to teach others became so important to them that the service to God as a teacher was more valuable to them than that of having their own free time to do as they wished. Their ministry of teaching became more precious to them than their attending a football game during their study hours. It became more valuable to them than the money they had to give up to buy study material or treats for their class. As a result of paying the proper price their decision required, they were entrusted to be in the position they are today to be a blessing for the cause of Christ.
The faithful members of church also made the right decisions. Yes, they could have easily missed church, stayed home, and watched what they wanted on television. However, the hearing of the Word of God, and their edification in the things of God became more valuable to them than what they could obtain outside the Lord’s house.
No one may have missed them if they had gone to another church because their feelings were hurt by what the sermon pinpointed in their lives, or what was said by another church member. Still, the calling God gave them to join, participate, and attend His local assembly of believers was so needful to them, that they made the right decisions to not miss; no matter what.
On and on the list could go of people that did without or did what was not convenient for them to do, in order to please and obey God. Obedience was most urgent to them. Unfortunately, they are the minority in the body of Christ. Too many do not have their priorities the same as the above examples. Something in their lives became more important than God and obedience to Him.
Perhaps it was the first step, after they were saved, that was not crucial to them. Perhaps they too received the heart-tug to be baptized, start praying, or even daily read their Bible; but something was more important to them at the time. Maybe it was the fear of what others would think if they even looked “religious”. Perhaps, they would not even sacrifice getting in their car and driving to church to hear the Gospel, because an extra hour of sleep was more important to them. They had the same amount of time as those previously described who chose to obey and live for God. However, they hoarded that time for themselves and chose not to make God a priority in their life.
Maybe they did start out making the right spiritual decisions. Maybe it was spiritually further down their walk with Christ that they were convicted about something God wanted them to change, or do, but they were not willing to pay the price for it. Their wrong decision to not obey the leadership of God in their lives was a blunt “no” in God’s ears. That refusal cost them further requests by God. What would be the sense of telling them further things to do, if they were not doing what God had already had told them to do? The rest of their lives has been spent far from God, with only their self-interests being served, and not God’s interests.
They grew so far away from hearing the voice of God’s calling in their lives, that even a disaster in their lives, does not open their spiritual hearing. Perhaps, they still attend church. They hear the pastor’s words from the Word of God, but it does nothing to stir them anymore. Their hardened hearts are the “used-to-be’s” or “once-I-was-gonna’s”, and now they just sit and do not serve. They had the same opportunities to obey and serve, but they chose the temporal rather than that which would please God and allow Him to work in their lives. They, unfortunately, made the wrong decisions.
Since I have been saved, many have sat next to me in church. Many of them were newly saved, and sat longingly along side with their Bibles opened wide, spiritual-tongues hungrily hanging out and wanting to be fed from what flowed out of heaven from the pulpit. Where are they today? Their seats are vacant or occupied by others. Their Bibles may lie unused for years. They made the wrong decision, that shelved them from being used further by God.
Do not ever say or even think, "Well, it was easier for him to give up … so he could attend church, than what I have to give up.” That is a sign that even now, while you are thinking those thoughts that you are making a decision that does not involve the will of God in your life. The sacrifice God requires all of us to make is at the time, difficult for us, and a step in sacrificial obedience. Too many are not willing to pay the price it takes to possess Christian character. For those, the cost of God-centered choices, and sacrifices is too high an asking price.
If you have to admit, sadly, you have made the wrong decisions, it may not be too late to make the correct decisions. God is a second, third, or even a hundred chance God. Just the fact that you have a conviction about making wrong choices is a light showing that your heart is not completely hardened yet. There still may be the chance to make the right choices and serve God today. Doing it tomorrow will be the wrong decision. Saying “yes” to God’s command that rings in your heart will be the right one. Decide and obey today!

Prayers Please
Judy Roberts mother, Marjorie Land passed away this morning. Marjorie was very active with the Quaker Church and loved missions. She was one of the sweetest people I've known and will be greatly missed. Please pray for Steve and Judy and all of the family as they deal with great loss. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Please Pray
I just received word that Heather Browning's other Grandmother we had on the prayer list passed away today at 2:50 p.m. As a Church Family, let's all surround her and her family with our love and prayers. This has been a rough year for them. May God give Comfort, Peace, and show His Great Love and Mercy at this time to all of them.
Communications Committee
Hello Everyone!
I just thought I 'd let everyone know what's up with the Communications Committee these days and give you a status update on the directory. Our committee has been looking for ways to get the word out about the school of prayer and we are utilizing the free events calendars that a few of our local newspapers provide. And Melanie Martz has graciously offered to take fliers around town to local businesses to be displayed.
We are always taking submissions for our monthly newsletter. If you have something you'd like to submit please email it to me at haemmertime1@aol.com If you are the chairman of a committe a committe update would be awesome too. It seems like sometimes our committees work is not made known to the congregation unless they attend Monthly Meeting. This would be a good way to make everyone feel apart of the church and maybe even peak interest for committe nominations for next year.
So, about the directory, it's still not done. It's just going to take a while. It's a pretty big job and it's something we are trying to put together as we find the time. Pray for us!
As always we are looking for new and better ways to improve and expand our on-line presence. We have the blog, facebook and our website. We would like to have the blog and the website work as one in the future. That is our goal. We are working on ideas and a list of wants and needs for a new website idea. If anyone has any input we would be glad to hear it.
If anyone has computer expertise or grapphic design talent, please let us know if Communications committe would be something you'd be interested in helping out with.
If you are on a committee I just want to remind you that our committee is here to help you with any of your projects that you need help "getting the word out" about.
I want to thank Pastor Stubbs for helping us stay focused and realize our goals this year. It's going fast and we still have a lot of work to do if we want to accomplish all we've set out to do! We feel so fortunate to be a part of a church where Jesus is the leader. Knowing that we serve a loving God who cares about all we say and do makes all the work we do a joy!
God Bless you!

We have received news from Rwanda that Etienne Nsanzimana, a Quaker pastor there, has been “taken away” by Rwandan security officials. Etienne is a graduate of Earlham School of Religion, and still has close ties to many here in the United States.
Etienne has been an advocate for peace, and for the care of people who need help. He has worked to help build housing for widows and orphans and help orphans get school supplies and clothes, among many other things.
Would you be able to share with IYM this request to hold Etienne in the Light, and pray for his Etienne’s safety and quick release? He had been looking forward to returning to Earlham this Friday for a conference.
Our Missions Committee
I want to say thank you to everyone on the Missions Committee at Hinkle Creek and also thank everyone who has helped them support the Food Pantry. Having White River Christian Church members come to Hinkle Creek and thank us personally really was so special. I would love to hear from the Missions Committe what kinds of things they are doing with and for White River and how we as a congregation can be more involved. Maybe we could put something in the newsletter monthly about Missions and what the opportunities are to serve. Obviously, good works are being done in Jesus's name and I would love to know more about that, and share in the joy! A wise man once told me....Look to see where God is moving, and join in! I see God moving and am curious as to how we can support you even more! So, thank you for all you do! I'm on the Communications Committee and I would love to help Missions inform the church and the community about the need that exists and how we can help! Obviously, bringing food for the pantry on Sunday's is one way to serve. And I believe you make laundry soap too right? Trish, do you still accept cash donations for your shopping trips for the pantry? And how often do you go? Maybe I'm just out of the loop and everyone else is aware of all you are doing! Either way! Please fill us in when you can!
With Love,
Kelly

SCRIPTURE THOUGHT
When I was growing up at Hinkle, our Pastor Ward Applegate always ended his closing prayer with a Scripture - it was always the same Scripture and as I meditated on that today, it was a good reminder that I need to be careful what I think and say to others. Perhaps it's a good reminder to all of us, so I wanted to share this with you today.
"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14

THIS SUNDAY
This coming Sunday, our friends from White River Christian Church will be attending our services to extend their appreciation for our support of the Food Pantry. Fred Knoll, the Outreach Pastor from there will be speaking to us on Sunday. He is a wonderful man and speaks so eloquently. I know you will all enjoy hearing him. Also, since these folks are coming, this would be a great opportunity to fill our Food Pantry basket and I'm sure they will carry it with them for us. Pass the word and maybe we will have a large supply for them. Looking forward to seeing everyone this Sunday.

Teach Me to Pray HYMN by Albert Simpson Reitz
This is my heart-cry day unto day;
I long to know Thy will and Thy way;
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.
- Living in Thee, Lord, and Thou in me,
Constant abiding, this is my plea;
Grant me Thy power, boundless and free,
Power with men and power with Thee.
Here 'mid earth's sin and sorrow and care,
Men lost and dying, souls in despair;
O give me power, power in prayer!
My sinful nature Thou canst subdue;
Fill me just now with power anew;
Power to pray and power to do!
Thou art my pattern day unto day;
Thou art my surety, now and for aye;
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.

SINGSPIRATION!
Please mark your calendars for Sunday evening, August 5th at 5:30 p.m.. We are having a special time of singing and Praising the Lord through many songs that you will be able to request. Rowena Holliday, the wife of Jack Holliday - Pastor of Anderson Friends, will be our guest pianist that evening. Rowena is also the Secretary at Indiana Yearly Meeting. At the end of the singing, Jack, myself and hopefully Doug Shoemaker (Supt. of Indiana Yearly Meeting) will lead us all in special prayer and blessings for the Revival Services and School of Prayer that will begin the following Sunday. What a great time to spend the evening Praising the Lord through song then bowing before Him with great expectation of what is to follow. Doug is checking his calendar, but if at all possible, he plans to attend. Please pass the word for this special gathering. I believe I heard there may be ice cream afterwards. You know us Quakers - gotta have something to munch on!

Clarence Barker
It is almost noon on Saturday and I just finished the Church Bulletins for tomorrow and mentioned Clarence Barker and asking for prayer as he had been moved to Maple Park Nursing Facility suffering with liver cancer. As soon as I got home, I received a call from Leota telling me that Clarence passed away just before noon today. I felt an urge to go see him and talk to him about accepting Christ and being sure he was ready to go when the time came. We had a good season of prayer and held my hand and asked Jesus into his heart and said he wanted it all! What a glorious prayer meeting we had. An hour after I went, he was transferred to the Nursing Home. I know it was the Lord prompting me to go as He doesn't want to lose any of His children. He death came quicker than they thought, but I believe the Lord wanted him while he was ready. Let's all pray for Leota and the children during this loss to them. I don't know the full details, but they are working toward a calling on Thursday evening and the funeral on Friday morning at Randall & Roberts on St. Rd. 32. I'll post more when I know the details.

Obituary for Joan Randall
Edith Joan Randall
(January 14, 1928 - June 25, 2012)
Edith Joan Randall, 84 years old, died on Monday, June 25, 2012 in Riverview Hospital. She had been a Noblesville resident for the past six years.
The daughter of Virgil and Goldie (McClintock) Anderson, she was born January 14, 1928. On October 3, 1947, she married Morris A Randall in Noblesville, IN.
A graduate of Noblesville High School, she worked briefly at Firestone Industrial Products and later in the Hamilton County Treasurers Office for 20 years. She was a member of the Esther Kay Home Ec Club for numerous years.
During the 54 years she and Morris lived on the family farm, they raised five children and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. They raised St. Bernards for a number of years which led to many life-long friendships. Another interest they shared was rag-time music. They made annual trips to the Rag-time Piano Competition in Illinois, another interest which lead to many more life-long relationships.
She was an excellent seamstress and made many clothes for herself and her family. She enjoyed sewing for the home as well.
She was a member of Gray Friends Church where she was very involved in church activities and played the piano for many years.
For all of these many interests, nothing meant more to her than family: family gatherings for birthdays, holidays and trips. Everyone looked forward to these gatherings as she made them so much fun with good food and laughter. These good times also included extended family and friends. She’d go out of her way to make everyone feel welcome.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Randall, a daughter, Nancy Jeffries and a son David Randall, and a sister, Jenoise Thatcher.
She is survived by daughters, Lynn (Joe) Tharp, Lebanon; Dana (Gordon) Clemens, Warsaw; Lisa Clark, Mantua, Ohio.
Grandchildren include: Jeffrey Tharp, Wayne Tharp and Brian Tharp, all of Lebanon. Kimberly Placek, Indianapolis and Shannon (Barry) Dimmock, Greenwood; Kady Randall, Indianapolis; Chelsea Clemens, Noblesville, Colin Clemens, Justin Clemens, Erin Clemens all of Warsaw; Savannah Clark, Mantua, Ohio.
Great-grandchildren include: Austin Tharp, Justin Tharp, Aaron and Taylor Casey, Kate and Lauren Dimmock; and Sophia Krentze.
Donations may be made to the National Stroke Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Services will be held at Randall and Roberts funeral home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville on Thursday, June 28, 2012. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.

Amazon.com: Estelle Book Reviews
Compelling Story of the Power of Prayer and Love
540 pages. You really get your money's worth of thought-provoking applications as you read ESTELLE. James W. Tharp tells this riveting story about his mother Estelle, writing it as historical fiction based on actual events and real people. Knowing it is fact-based lends extra excitement to the telling of these remarkable real-life occurrences. The story begins with the spiritual hunger Estelle feels as a young woman, and her pursuit until she finds fulfillment in Jesus Christ; but she is deeply concerned for the decadent and wicked environment she lives in. As she delves into God's Word and prayer, her growing confidence and faith strengthen her to fearlessly confront evil with amazing results. Estelle's experiences are inspiring and instructional for readers longing to know if God still works miracles.
ESTELLE is also a love story--of both earthly love and Heavenly Love. Jim and Estelle's marriage is a great model of a loving relationship, and inspires you to follow their example of patient, persistent love in the midst of life's inevitable challenges. ESTELLE is a wonderful combination of story, inspiration, and practical teaching. As you read, you get compelling lessons in love, victorious faith, prayer, and spiritual warfare. Be prepared to emerge from this book with renewed faith and strengthened prayers. I've read ESTELLE several times and have been deeply affected each time. This book is also available in Kindle format.

A captivating story of love and plain talk'in faith
From the moment you meet her, you will love Estelle. Married to Jim, a gun tot'in, sharp shoot'in Deputy Sheriff, her wedding night is hilarious. " . . . I'm ready to find out if this thing's all it's cracked up to be," she tells her husband, "So come on and show me what it's all about!" Jim has the amazing skill of being able to shoot through the ear lobe of a man by way of warning, then killing him if he has to. After killing four fugitives Jim feels he has broken the commandment "Thou Shalt Not Kill." With her direct, down to earth faith, Estelle explains killing in self defense does not break the commandment which means with intent to kill, as in murder. James Tharp has given us not only the inspiration of the revival of the Holiness movement, but a delightful insight into life in rural Arkansas. The food is amazing. Celebrations have four kinds of meat, stewed potatoes and numerous pies, including the Jeff Davis (pecan pie without the pecans). The spirituality is direct and comprehensive. I found myself going back to portions of the preaching and using them for moments of meditation. Read to enjoy. Read to be strengthened in the faith.

Newsletter
Chairman of Committees, please feel free to contribute to the newsletter any information about the work your committee is doing to share in the newsletter. A story, or just a report of how things are going would be an encouragment to all! Especially if you are working on a project that might be something the larger church body can contribute in.

Monthly Meeting
Hello !
I just wanted to make mention that our next Monthly Meeting will be Sunday, July 8. Chairman, please make time to meet with your committees before then. Our last two meetings were really close together so we had a bit of a break there. Because it's June and we are halfway through our year please consider reviewing your coordinating committee goals you set in March. Our 176th Homecoming is in October and each committee may want to discuss how they might contribute to that special day as well. Thank you!
Watching God work,
Kelly

Please Pray
I just returned from Riverview Hospital and learned that Joan Randall was admitted after suffering a heart attack and a massive stroke. She is in hospice and not looking good for her. The family asked me to have all of you to pray for her and for them. May God have His Hand upon her as she goes through this transition. She was such a sweet lady and loved coming to Hinkle to Worship with us.

How You Can Walk in the Spirit
http://www.keystochristiangrowth.com/4.walk_in_spirit/
If you have asked God in faith to fill you with His Holy Spirit, you can be confident that He has filled you according to His promise. Now you are able to live everyday walking in the fullness of the Spirit He has given you. The Bible compares people to trees; the way to know a good tree is by its fruit, or by the actions of the person: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22). God wants every Christian to produce good fruit and has given you the Holy Spirit so that you can live a life like Jesus Christ, one of love and of power.

As a Christian, you must make a continual choice between walking according to the desires of your old self and walking according to the desires of the Holy Spirit. We are told in Galatians 5:16, “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” You can learn to walk in the Holy Spirit as you read and obey God’s Word, give thanks to Him in all things, and continually confess yours sins to God and ask for forgiveness. If you want to live your life walking in the Spirit, tell God now that you want Him to teach you. Because it is what He wants for you, you can know that He will do it.
Key verses
Key verses
“For if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25).
“For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life” (Galatians 6:8).
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God” (Romans 8:13,14).
Walking in the Spirit
http://www.abideinchrist.com/selah/jul20.html
“We are not justified by the manner of our walk, but by our being in Christ Jesus,” observed Spurgeon.
The most important question to ask ourselves is, “Am I in Christ?” If the answer is yes, then “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
The individual who is “in Christ Jesus” does not walk after the flesh, but after and in step with the Holy Spirit. He walks according to the guidance of the Spirit. To be “filled with the Spirit” is to be under the control of the Spirit. Every believer has the Holy Spirit. Our responsibility is to be yielded to Him. He has the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. The result of our justification through faith in Christ is a new creation, no longer under the control of the flesh, but in the spirit, a spiritual person.
No, God does not eradicate the flesh. It is still there striving and warring against the spirit, and it will be there until the Christian is taken up into heaven to be with God.
That apostle Paul tells us the person who is “in Christ Jesus” commits himself to the guidance and control of the Holy Spirit. He gives us guidance, encouragement, correction, and leads us in the paths of righteousness so that we become more like Christ.
Another important question for the believer is, Am I walking according to the flesh? Or, Am I walking in the Spirit? Our response determines what we produce in our daily lives.
The apostle Paul said, “Do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:4).
How do you know the difference? “For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit” (v. 5).
Is my life conduct under the control of the Spirit? If so, I will produce the fruit of the Spirit in my life (Galatians 5:22-23). It will be the opposite of the works of the flesh (vv. 19-21).
How is your walk? Your walk is determined by your thinking. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Set your mind on the things of the flesh, let it be dominated by fleshly thoughts, and you will produce the works of the flesh. Let your mind be under the control of the Holy Spirit and you will produce the fruit of the Spirit.
Kenneth Wuest translates Romans 8:5, “For those who are habitually dominated by the sinful nature put their minds on the things of the sinful nature, but those who are habitually dominated by the Spirit put their minds on the things of the Spirit.”
Does the Holy Spirit or the flesh habitually dominate your mind? You will know by what your life is producing. Set your mind on the flesh and you will produce flesh. Let it be under the power and control of the Holy Spirit and you become like Jesus Christ in your behavior.
The only way to not walk in the flesh is to change masters of the mind. “Be transformed by the renewing of the mind” (Romans 12:2). Edgar Goodspeed translated Romans 8:5b, “People who are controlled by the spiritual think of what is spiritual.” When we set our minds on the Spirit we produce spiritual things that are pleasing to God. Kenneth Taylor paraphrased this verse, “Those who follow after the Holy Spirit find themselves doing those things that please God.”
The Amplified Bible reads, “For those who are according to the flesh and controlled by its unholy desires, set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh. But those who are according to the Spirit and [controlled by the desires] of the Spirit, set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the (Holy) Spirit.”
Where do you choose to let your thoughts dwell? You are what you think. Will you not now choose to bow your mind to the control of Spirit of God? Let Him control your thinking. Let the desire of your heart be to depend not upon yourself, but on Christ alone. That is the work of the Holy Spirit within you. We have everything we need to live the Christian life in Him and what He chooses to provide. Our inner resource is God Himself—the Hoy Spirit. Let Him control your mind, your heart, and your actions will pleasing to God.

Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who drove the kids to camp on Sunday! They were all so excited! We are all so blessed to have Quaker Haven for them to visit and feel a part of. They all need that so much and the things they see and do there will have lasting impacts on all of their lives. They are learning to make God a priority and to trust and to look for him for and in all things! And I just love hearing about camp when they get back. May God richly bless them as they share in his many blessings and his deep and awesome love for all of them!

What a Great Concert!
I have to admit that I didn't know much about Rachel West Kramer before last evening, but if you missed the concert, you really missed something! I found her and her husband to be the most humble sweetest people who are so dedicated to serving the Lord through this gift He has given her. Her voice nearly lifted the roof off of Hinkle last evening. It was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! When she sang "How Great Thou Art", I couldn't stay in my seat any longer - I just had to rise to my feet as I could feel the presence of God filling Hinkle! If I had closed my eyes, I would've thought Sandy Patti was in the place singing - very comparable! It was also good to see Vonnie Wright there for the ladies prayer meeting and all of our Friends from Anderson Friends join us. What an incredible evening and I pray that we can have her again. I'm sure that we will have even more people coming to hear her after the word gets out about this incredible lady. I just walked away so blessed along with everyone who attended. I greeted people at the door afterwards, and you could just see the glow and love in each one's face after hearing this beautiful concert. Just wanted to post my feelings this morning. I had no idea what we were in for - just a great prelude to the upcoming Spiritual Renewal!

This is a Test
I wanted to perform a test with our blog. I realize that many of you do not know how to respond through the blog, so I am just curious how many of you actually look at our blog. It doesn't matter whether you are part of Hinkle or not. I'd just like to know if we are reaching people through this media. If you look at this often, please send me an email at bstubbs50@frontier.com and just say something like "I read it" or you may comment in anyway you like. I would appreciate your response to give us an idea of how affective this is. Thanks!

And the Bible says:
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."I USED to think….And when I say used to, I mean like, last week. I used to think that in order to be a REAL Christian I needed to be a Bible Scholar. I couldn’t claim Christianity as my faith publically because what if someone asked me a hard theological question? So, I thought, oh I’ll wait till I know more. I’ll wait till I learn more about the Bible until I claim Christ, Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Then I’ll really show them. I’ll WOW them with my amazing knowledge of the Bible, the people, the stories, the meaning, the history. Problem is, my memory isn’t so good and I’m already so busy and I really don’t know enough about most of it to even begin to claim I know what’s happening in some of these stories. I would need to go to college full time. God hasn’t called me to do that. Or, I would do that.
But I have come to understand that I have a helper in my quest to claim my faith. The Holy Spirit.
And the Bible says:
John 14:26
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.The Holy Spirit will help me and remind me? Well Praise Jesus! And I can come to him as a child? I don’t need to come to him as a theologian? Halelujah! Amen!
Now, that is Good News! I say these things to you now because I want to tell you something. Do not wait. Do not wait till you know more, receive a sign, lose weight, have the time or feel bored. Claim your faith now. Do it even if your faith is small.
And the Bible says:
Luke 17:6
He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you. That’s a powerful verse! Claim it! Use it! Take what little faith you have in your heart, even if it’s just a desire to believe. And take that leap! What are you waiting for?
Come to me as children, I will send you a helper even if your faith is small. Do not hesitate, God will bless you. He loves you and is waiting for you.
