Ben's Story

On Christmas night, Ben Breedlove, a bright and engaging 18-year-old, died from complications of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), an abnormal thickening of the heart's walls. He had already outlived his life expectancy with the hereditary condition.
And while his story is heartbreaking, Breedlove has already left a legacy of warmth and hope that outshines the tragedy of his death: a video the Austin, Texas teen left behind has gone viral on YouTube, touching thousands of people who had never met him, and bringing one famous rapper to tears.
For more than a year, Breedlove had developed a devoted following on YouTube. Charming and witty, Breedlove would offer kids his age from all over the world advice on everything from dating to studying.
But the video he made just before Christmas was of a much more personal and intimate nature. He shared the details of living and often struggling with a disease that was supposed to have taken his life years earlier. He does so wordlessly, his message written on a series of index cards, as an instrumental version of Gary Jules's Mad World played in the background.
 
The video, filmed in two parts, wasn't found until just after he had died on Christmas Day, playing in the yard with his brother.
His mother, Deanne Breedlove, told the Austin American-Statesman that the videos brought an element of joy amid the grief.
"It was a gift to us," she said. "And for him to be so confident and unafraid of death and to share it with other people was so touching."
In his final video, Breedlove used notecards to describe the three times in his life he "cheated death", surviving seizures that could have taken his life.
"I was never allowed to play all the sports that my friends did," the cards say in his final message. "It kinda sucks that I missed out on that part of my life. I really just hoped that I could be the same as everyone else."
The most recent seizure, Breedlove wrote, had only happened a few weeks earlier, after he passed out at school in early December. While paramedics worked to revive him, Breedlove said he had a vision that Kid Cudi appeared with him in a white room, while his favorite song, Mr Rager, played in the background.
When he came to, he wrote, "I then looked at myself in the mirror. I was proud of myself, of my entire life, everything I have done."
Kid Cudi saw the video and was moved to write to Breedlove from his Tumblr account.
"I am so sad about Ben Breedlove. I watched the video he left for the world to see, and him seeing me in detail, in his vision really warmed my heart. I broke down, I am to tears because I hate how life is so unfair," Kid Cudi, whose given name is Scott Mescudi, wrote.
"To Ben's family: you raised a real hero."

Oh my this really did make me LOL

Thank you!

Just wanted to thank you for your prayers for my situation that I found myself in after the oral surgery. I had not idea this nasty bug could be so bad and hurt like it did. After 5 prescriptions and a diligent routine of pills, mouth washes and lozenges 5 times a day, the pain has subsided and I can now eat very soft unseasoned foods. Thank you Pam for sending home the chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes - they really filled the bill for me last evening. I was getting pretty tired of drinking Ensure and warm low salt chicken broth. I'm thankful to have such a good doctor that got right on top of this and got me the help I needed. Apparently, once it started spreading it went like wildfire throughout my mouth, down my throat, and even in my nose. Being santitary is the key to keep it under control besides the medication. I've gone through so much bleach, I'll have to buy more before Paulette gets home!! LOL! Even had to buy a supply of toothbrushes and throw each one away after use. Been drinking from paper cups, paper plates, and plastic wear. I really appreciate the quiet I have experienced through this as the medication makes me very sleepy and it's nice to nap without phone interruptions. I believe by tomorrow I should be back to normal, although I have to keep up with the medication for another 10 days or so. Again, thank you for your concern and prayers. It has just meant the world to me. Let's all pray that 2012 will prove to be a much better year for all of us. Seems like many of us in the congregation has experienced a lot of challenges in 2011. Just know I continue to pray for all of you too - so I'm still on the job!!! LOL!

Magnificent!

I spoke with Shirley this morning and she is asking for prayer for Kaylee. She is in the hospital with a bad cough. She is at The Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. They are hoping she can come home today. She needs to drink a lot of liquids the Doctor said. She had a fever and the croup. Thankfully she has the care she needs to get better. Please pray for Kaylee to get better soon and pray for her family as well that they may feel Gods Love and comfort as Kaylee's health is restored.

Good Morning

I received an email from Bob today saying he thinks the medicine is working but it may be a few days before he really feels any better. The medicine makes him sleepy so he is resting, which is good. He is not taking phone calls right now so please email me or call me or anyone on Ministry and Oversight if you need anything. Or you can email Bob.

PRAYER NEEDED

Please everyone begin praying and keep praying for Pastor Stubbs. He has an infection from his oral surgery. He has been to the Doctor and has medicine and is at home resting. Please do not call or text because he really needs his sleep to get well. I am asking for prayer for him from everyone who reads this blog. Prayers Please

Charlene Johnson just called and said they are removing the life support from her sister at 5:30 this evening. Please remember this family having to go through this especially at this time of year. I know Charlene would appreciate all of you remembering them during the 5:30 hour.

Just wanted to remind everyone that Service this Sunday will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. this Sunday. Marianne Isaacs is leading the song service where we will be singing Christmas Songs, then following that, I'd like to ask that ALL of you be prepared to share something about Christmas like what it means to you, a good memory, how it has impacted your life, etc. This Sunday, I want to give EVERYONE an opportunity to say something so we are all sharing in the experience. So, be thinking and praying about what the Lord would have you to say this Sunday as you minister to each other. I will be keeping our service right at an hour so you can get back home to continue sharing Christmas with your families. Please spread the word about the time frame.

Steve's Surgery

Just wanted to let you all know that Steve's surgery went well and wasn't as evasive as they feared. It ended up being a problem with his appendix. They will observe him and he may get to come home in a couple of days - just in time for Christmas. Thank you all for your prayers for Steve.

Prayer Needed

I just received word that Steve Roberts is at Carmel St. Vincent Hospital with a blockage to his intestine and may require surgery to fix the problem. Please remember Steve and Judy as they go through this especially at this time of year. I'm sure he is in much pain with this situation.

Also, Paulette's uncle, Don Shelburne passed away and his funeral is this coming Wednesday. His father was Roy Shelburne who Pastored at Hinkle some years back. Seems there is much sadness this Christmas for so many in our Church Family.

WRCC Food Pantry Newsletter from Kim DeMasie

Another busy night at the pantry with 150 families including 18 new families. They were assisted by 34 volunteers and 17 volunteers on Tuesday that helped stock. It is disheartening to see so many new families coming through our doors sheepishly looking for assistance. We pray for a change in the economy to help lift the burden to these families.
We are well stocked at this time on canned goods due to several local food drives. Our main needs include cereal, (which can be found at Kroger for $1.99 a box) oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup, sugar, flour, juices, boxed dinners, pasta and pasta sauce and snacks (which include chips, cookies, boxed cakes)
Meijer is selling "Simply Give" cards for $10. The $10 and a portion from Meijer is given to the pantry. Please consider buying a couple of cards at the register to help another familiy this Christmas. This will be benefiting our pantry through the end of the year. We would like to thank Kroger for recently sending us a check for over $500 from their "Feed the Hungry" program. We are also grateful to Marsh for all of their donations and breads and sweets that we receive weekly.
Thanks to everyone that decorated the trees at the pantry and put up decorations. It looks beautiful for our families to enjoy. We also want to thank all of the high school students that come help us after school. You are awesome for being so unselfish with your time and showing others the hands and feet of Jesus.

Prayers for Paulette


I just want to encourage everyone to pray for Paulette, Bob and their entire family during this difficult time. I know everyone is already doing that but I just wanted to ask everyone to really spend some extra time in deep prayer over the Menard family, especially Paulette's mom. I know that Paulette and her mom have spent many hours praying for our church and I have been personally impacted by Paulette's prayers for my life. My hope is that our prayers will work together to bring them the comfort and sense of God's love they need right now. I am also hoping and praying for a really big turn out at church these next two Sundays. I know nothing would please them more than hearing that the church was full and full of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is loving us, watching over us and guiding us. And he's listening. I want to give him praise, thanks and stand in the gap for my friends and family who are hurting. ANd if we can do all that in one accord we can really change lives and hearts.

Evangelist Billy Graham is in "good spirits" and resting comfortably in an Asheville, North Carolina, hospital Thursday, a day after he was admitted for evaluation and treatment of his lungs, a spokesman said.
Graham spent time reading the Bible and praying with his daughter, Gigi, Wednesday night, Graham spokesman A. Larry Ross said on Twitter.
When Graham -- who turned 93 on November 7 -- was admitted to Mission Hospital, "he was alert, smiling and waving at hospital staff," according to a statement from the hospital.
"While no date has been set for discharge, Mr. Graham is looking forward to returning home to spend the upcoming Christmas holidays with his family," the statement said.
Graham, who has provided counsel to generations of U.S. presidents beginning with President Harry S. Truman, is the founder of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association. The association said the evangelist was in stable condition and is being tested for possible pneumonia.
A resident of nearby Montreat, Graham was also hospitalized in May for successful treatment of pneumonia, the hospital said.
The Charlotte native has preached to untold millions over six decades, beginning his missionary work in 1944 when he started speaking at rallies for the Youth for Christ Campus Life ministry. Five years later, Graham was holding crusades in tents in downtown Los Angeles. Originally scheduled for three weeks, the crusades drew so many followers they were extended to seven.
His most recent book, "Nearing Home," was published in October.
Graham's "last crusade" in June 2005 drew a total of 230,000 people.
He described it as his last American crusade, but hedged his farewells during a poignant appearance in Corona Park in Queens, New York.
"We hope to come back again someday," Graham announced. "I was asked in an interview if this was our last crusade and I said it probably is -- in New York. But I also said, 'I never say never.' "

Don C. Menard, 86, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, November 28, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Menard, son of Sibley Lafayette and Josie (Satchfield) Menard, was born April 12, 1925, in Nady, Arkansas. He retired from Firestone Products after 30 years of service. Mr. Menard attended New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed cutting wood, working on old cars and music. He was a World War II veteran and had served with the U. S. Army in occupied Japan.
On October 29, 1944, he was married to Francis Jeanette Tharp at Tichnor, Arkansas. She survives. Mr. and Mrs. Menard had just celebrated their 67th anniversary.
Also surviving are two daughters; Melody Lynn (Robert) Andersen of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Eunice Paulette (Robert) Stubbs of Westfield, Indiana; three sons, Orville Rex (Marilyn) Menard of Harvard, Illinois, Lyle Allen Menard of Harrisonburg, Louisiana, and William Lafayette (Marcia) Menard of Dayton, Texas; and eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sibley and Josie Menard; four sisters, Mary Ives, Margaret Boehn, Abbie Lee Jones, and Agnes Elrod; and four brothers, Walter Morris Menard, David Menard, Wesley Menard, and Sibley Menard. All Mr. Menard’s siblings had resided in Arkansas.
Visitation for Mr. Menard will take place Friday evening, December 2, 2011, from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Saturday morning, December 3, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Gary Jones officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Funeral Arrangements

I finally got the word this morning on the funeral arrangements for Paulette's Dad. I'm hoping it will be posted on the funeral home website today which is: www.edwardsfuneralhome.org.

The calling will be at the funeral from 5:00 - 8:00 on Friday evening and the funeral will be at 10:30 on Saturday morning. His burial will be at the New Hope Cemetery which is only 1 1/2 miles from their home and the little Baptist Church there is putting on a family meal following the burial.

We will be leaving very early on Friday morning and stay until Sunday, then I'll return home and have my surgery on Tuesday. Depending on how I feel, I may leave either Wednesday or Thursday to go back down to help finalize things for Paulette's mother and hopefully bring Paulette back home.

I'm sorry to miss two Sundays at Church, but this is out of my control. I am pleased to tell you that this Sunday you will hear an interesting message from John Chambers about the Star of Bethlehem then on the 11th, Doug Shoemaker will bring the morning message and his wife Kris will play the piano. Please come and support our Church and those who are standing in while I'm away. You will miss a blessing if you miss Church. Please continue to pray for us as we get through these tough days ahead.

Obituary

Obviously it is too early to know any arrangements for Paulette's Dad, but I thought I'd give you the website of the funeral home where they will post the obituary once it is done. Not sure they even have one written yet. His name is Don C. Menard and the funeral home website where it will be posted is www.edwardsfuneralhome.org You will just have to keep checking until they post it.

Paulette's Dad

About noon Indiana time, Paulette's Dad passed away. He had complained that his back was itching, so Paulette and her mother turned him and put some lotion on him and he said, "I hope I'm dying". Paulette's mother said, "now just remember the promises of the Scriptures we have talked about concerning the believers". He said, "Yes, I've been thinking a lot about that". They turned him back over and he looked up at the ceiling and smiled and said "OK", then drew his last breath. He was a bitter sweet moment for them. I'm so glad that Paulette was there with he and her mother during that, but they both certainly need all of our prayers on this end for God to give them strength to get through this. I'm not certain about going out for the funeral at this time. I will wait until after the surgery tomorrow and see how I get along. I just feel like I need to be with Paulette to support her and her Mom. Just really torn as to what to do. I have to say that I'm glad the suffering is over for him and I just know in my heart he is really happy to be in the presence of the Lord. My heart is heavy today as I remember all of the wonderful times we had over these past 38 years. Thank you all for your prayers.

Update

Paulette's Dad is still with us and we have been trying to figure out how to get Paulette down there before he passes. She wanted to wait to hear from her brother who arrived there today. After talking to him, we decided it's time to take her down. So, we are leaving very early in the morning (Thanksgiving Day) and hope to have her there by noon or so, then I will stay about an hour and head back to Indiana so I can be here to conduct a funeral service on Saturday, then oral surgery on Tuesday. I hate to have to leave her there, but this is a time when her mother needs her assistance and she certainly wants to be there for her Dad before he leaves this world. Thank goodness, Kaneesha was given the day off tomorrow and she is going to ride with us and help me drive back. Tomorrow is her and Brian's 4th wedding anniversary, but she felt this was too important so she can also see her grandpa one last time. So, please pray for us as we take off on this whirlwind trip. Maybe we will have a McDonald's for our Thanksgiving meal!!! LOL! See you all Sunday!!

Prayer Please

Paulette got a call from her mother this evening and her Dad has taken a turn for the worse. The male nurse who came to see him today said his time was very near. He is seeing things, his pulse rate is very high, and his lungs are starting to fill with fluid. So, help us pray during this time as we try to figure out how to get Paulette out there to be with her Mom. Her brother will be there tomorrow, so we are thankful she won't be alone.

Bible Study Thanksgiving Food

Just wanted to let you know that Paulette is making a roaster pan of southern cornbread and buttermilk biscuit dressing and cranberry salad. I'll make the coffee and have bought one jug of sweet tea. I believe Heather said she was bringing the turkey or ham - not sure on that, so anything else to go with that would be great. If anyone wants something to drink other than sweet tea, please feel free to bring something! Remember, it all starts at 6:00 p.m. rather than 6:30 this week! Need plenty of time to eat all of that good food!

Wedding

Remember that Pam Browning and Chuck Stout are getting married tomorrow (Saturday) at Hinkle at 2:00 p.m.. Everyone from Hinkle is invited to attend! They will make a wonderful couple and we are excited for them both. Just going to be hard to say "Pam Stout" now! Hope you all can come!

Praise The Lord!!!

I always want to give credit to the Lord when I feel like He has done something special in my life. Many of you don't know that as I was coming back from Indianapolis on Monday, my old truck suddenly started acting up and would hardly pull itself across the intersection. I quickly realized that my transmission was acting up and it wasn't shifting. I could only go slow and had to hand shift it to get down the road. I took that to the Lord and asked for His help as we certainly couldn't afford to have it worked on at this time with everything else on our plate. As I was thinking about that today, the Lord brought to my mind a conversation I had some years back with a gentleman who was a well known transmission man and worked for White Oldsmobile back in the '60's. His name was Orville Hopkins. He told me that there was this new product you could put in your transmission and it would revitalize your fluid and unstick anything that was stuck and would even clean the filter. I happened to remember the name of the product and went to autozone and bought a bottle of it and put it in. I drove it to the Church to get the mail and nothing. So, I came back home and thought - "well I tried". But, then I thought I'd try it one more time and go to the drugstore. When I drove out of the driveway, it worked perfect!!!! I took it on a little longer spin to try it out and every gear works and it is just like new!!! I just wanted to give God the Glory for touching my old blue truck that I depend on so much! Being on call 24/7, I really didn't know what I'd do if I was at home and Paulette gone and got an emergency call. It really is true - He knows our needs before we do and is faithful to provide in these circumstances. Just wanted to share this you. He brings to our mind things we have long forgotten that are useful to us in the present! Praise The Lord!

Prayers for Kim!

We had a wonderful week in Florida enjoying the sun and ocean and time together. We walked on the beach each morning and sat at the pool and read for most of the day The biggest decision was where to eat dinner. My kind of vacation. I tried to stay out of the sun but that is hard when you are in Florida and it feels so good!

Today I had my scans at St. Vincent which included a mammogram, an ultrasound and a breast MRI. The breast MRI is a treat if you have not had the pleasure. NOT. I won't know any results until next Monday when I see Dr. Schmidt. I am no ultrasound tech, but the tumor looked smaller to me. I really don't feel anxious because I know it is all in God's hands. I appreciate all of your messages and prayers on here as well as texts and phone calls. I could definitely feel the prayers today. Now we will just wait and see. :)

Profiles in Generosity | Hattie May Wiatt


Background

Even a child with a generous spirit can have an incredible impact on God's Kingdom. If you have never heard the name Hattie May Wiatt, don't be too surprised. Hattie was a young child who lived during the late 1800s and attended the famous Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia pastored by the equally well-known Russell Conwell. Hattie's story is one of importance to the Temple Baptist Church. Through her act of simple generosity, she singlehandedly encouraged the church to grow and construct a new church building.

Even 57 cents can make a difference

The story goes that one Sunday, Hattie was found outside the church crying because there was not enough room in the Sunday School for her to attend. Pastor Conwell placed her on his shoulders and carried her through the waiting crowds into the church. She then began saving her pennies to build a larger Sunday School. She had saved only fifty-seven cents when she contracted diphtheria and died. Her parents gave the money to Conwell with an explanation of her reason for saving the money. The 57 pennies were later used as the first down payment for the Broad and Berks building. Hattie's picture can still be found on the wall of the Children's Sunday School room.

The legacy continued

This story touched Pastor Conwell so much that he repeated it many times. The Wiatt Mite Society was formed to carry on Hattie's dream. The society continued for many years. In September 1887 at the Centennial celebration of the United States Constitution, money received from the Wiatt Mite Society was given "for the success of the new Temple."

In Conclusion

If you don't have a lot of money, don't assume that you can't make a difference in your church, community, and the world. Be faithful in the "pennies," just like Hattie, and allow God to bless and multiply your little for the Kingdom.

MAGNOLIAS 
I spent the week before my daughter's June wedding running last-minute trips to the caterer, florist, tuxedo shop, and the church about forty miles away.

As happy as I was that Patsy was marrying a good Christian young man, I felt laden with responsibilities as I watched my budget dwindle.

So many details, so many bills, and so little time.  My son Jack was away at college, but he said he would be there to walk his younger sister down the aisle, taking the place of his dad who had died
a few years before. He teased Patsy, saying he'd wanted to give her away since she was about three years old!

To save money, I gathered blossoms from several friends who had large magnolia trees. Their luscious, creamy-white blooms and slick green leaves would make beautiful arrangements against the rich
dark wood inside the church.

After the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, we banked the podium area and choir loft with magnolias. As we left just before midnight, I felt tired but satisfied this would be the best wedding any bride had ever had! The music, the ceremony, the reception - and especially the flowers - would be remembered for years.

The big day arrived - the busiest day of my life - and while her bridesmaids helped Patsy to dress, her fiancé Tim walked with me to the sanctuary to do a final check. When we opened the door and felt a rush of hot air, I almost fainted; and then I saw them - all the beautiful white flowers were black.
Funeral black. An electrical storm during the night had knocked out the air conditioning system, and on that hot summer day, the flowers had wilted and died.

I panicked, knowing I didn't have time to drive back to our hometown, gather more flowers, and return in time for the wedding.

Tim turned to me. 'Edna, can you get more flowers? I'll throw away these dead ones and put fresh flowers in these arrangements.'

I mumbled, 'Sure,' as he be-bopped down the hall to put on his cuff links.

Alone in the large sanctuary, I looked up at the dark wooden beams in the arched ceiling. 'Lord,' I prayed, 'please help me. I don't know anyone in this town. Help me find someone willing to give me
flowers - in a hurry!' I scurried out praying for four things: the blessing of white magnolias, courage to find them in an unfamiliar yard, safety from any dog that may bite my leg, and a nice person who would not get out a shotgun when I asked to cut his tree to shreds.


As I left the church, I saw magnolia trees in the distance. I approached a house...No dog in sight.. knocked on the door and an older man answered.  So far so good. No shotgun. When I stated my plea the man beamed, 'I'd be happy to!'

He climbed a stepladder and cut large boughs and handed them down to me.  Minutes later, as I lifted the last armload into my car trunk, I said, 'Sir, you've made the mother of a bride happy today.'

No, Ma'am,' he said. 'You don't understand what's happening here.'

'What?' I asked.


'You see, my wife of sixty-seven years died on Monday.  On Tuesday I received friends at the funeral home, and on Wednesday . .. ... He paused.  I saw tears welling up in his eyes. 'On Wednesday I buried her.' He looked away. 'On Thursday most of my out-of-town relatives went back home, and on Friday - yesterday - my children left.'

I nodded.

'This morning,' he continued, 'I was sitting in my den crying out loud. I miss her so much.  For the last sixteen years, as her health got worse, she needed me.  But now nobody needs me. This morning I cried, 'Who needs an eighty-six-year-old wore-out man? Nobody!' I began to cry louder. 'Nobody needs me!'  About that time, you knocked, and said, 'Sir, I need you.'

I stood with my mouth open.


He asked, 'Are you an angel? The way the light shone around your head into my dark living room...'

I assured him I was no angel.

He smiled. 'Do you know what I was thinking when I handed you those magnolias?'

'No.'

'I decided I'm needed.  My flowers are needed.  Why, I might have a flower ministry!  I could give them to everyone! Some caskets at the funeral home have no flowers.  People need flowers at times like that
and I have lots of them.  They're all over the backyard! I can give them to hospitals, churches - all sorts of places.  You know what I'm going to do?  I'm going to serve the Lord until the day He calls me home!'

I drove back to the church, filled with wonder.  On Patsy's wedding day, if anyone had asked me to encourage someone who was hurting, I would have said, 'Forget it! It's my only daughter's wedding,
for goodness' sake! There is no way I can minister to anyone today.'

But God found a way.  Through dead flowers.
'Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.'


If you have missed knowing me, you have missed nothing.  If you have missed some of my emails, you may have missed a laugh.

But, if you have missed knowing my LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST  you have missed everything in the world. !!!!

Don Dunk's Obituary

I thought I'd go ahead and post Don Dunk's obituary on here in the event someone "googles" his name looking for the information. I was asked to get this in the Indianapolis Star, but ran into roadblocks finding out that only a Funeral Director can submit an obituary and the Star will charge the family around $700.00 to place it in their paper!!! I am awaiting on an answer from the family and his Executor whether to proceed or not. Bless her heart - Kay Hartley is going to help me with this if they decide to submit it.


DONALD LEE DUNK

Donald Lee Dunk, age 75, passed away on November 13, 2011 at Maple Park village in Westfield, Indiana. He was born on February 15, 1936 to Opal (Dryer) dunk and Ellis Nevin Dunk of Mulberry, (Clinton County) Indiana. He was a graduate of Mulberry High School in 1954. He received his AA from Purdue University and retired as a Title Researcher from Paul I. Cripe Inc. in 2001 after 45 years of service.
He moved to Westfield in 1984 after living in Indianapolis for 27 years. Don was very active at the Shepherds Center in Indianapolis and later in Westfield by serving as vice President of the Hamilton County Board. Don was also a charter member of the Hamilton County Antique Tractor Club. Don enjoyed traveling and traveled all over the world. Don was a member of Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends church and was loved by many. He will be remembered by all for his service to others, his great cooking, and his generosity to education through a scholarship fund.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Gordon Dunk. He is survived by a brother Robert F. Dunk of Springdale, Arkansas. Four nephews; Randy Atkinson of Paragon, Indiana; Kenneth Dunk, Frederick Dunk, and Lee Dunk all of Springdale, Arkansas; two nieces, Carol Bousum of Greenwood, Arkansas and Denise Marshall of Summers, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends Church, 18103 Eagletown Rd., Westfield, Indiana on November 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Stubbs officiating. Don donated his body to the IU Medical Center for Research and Study.

TONIGHT

Paulette is going to make a speghetti casserole for me to bring for the meal. I have already gotten the unsweet and sweetened tea and coffee is made ready to be plugged in. I picked up a cake for Jay for his 96th birthday and maybe we can use some of the leftover ice cream to along with that. I didn't get any candles, so if anyone has some they would like to bring, that would be great. Have to take Paulette to doctor this afternoon, so may be running a bit behind to get there in time. I'll not be able to go to Bible Study since there is a cemetery association meeting at 7:00. I've set up the cemetery meeting to be held in the nursery area, so small children may have to bring a few "quiet" toys out with the adults tonight.

Kim DeMasie's Online Journal - very inspiring and remarkable woman

The last chemo was Friday and I am definitely feeling it. My brain knows it is over but my body hasn't heard the news yet. I felt OK all weekend then the normal Monday after treatment started yesterday afternoon. We had a bonfire in the driveway and Jeff roasted hot dogs for the trick or treaters. A couple of neighbors came over and I started freezing. I came in and found the couch then crawled to bed soon after. Today has been a very low key day. Mostly sleeping off and on and moaning about my aching muscles. Everything hurts. I feel like my body went through one of those old washing machines. My hands and feet are numb and tingling.

But it has also been a day of reflection in how far God has brought us. We have made it and are ready for the next step. I am so grateful and thankful for all of the meals friends brought over during this, texts every morning, cards in the mail are still coming. I have gotten so many wonderful hugs and just feel so blessed to be included in prayer by so many people.  We don't know what God's plan is, but we do know that we trust it. Thank you for all of your love and prayers on behalf of our family.
