My Grandpa was a very kind Man who cared deeply for his family.
He was a positive person and never negative.
There was nothing that my Grandpa couldn't fix or do. He is very special to Me and I will miss him very much but I am relieved to know where he is.
We are a Christ centered, Bible based Church reaching out in love to further the Kingdom of God.

CHECK IT OUT
If Jesus Came to Your House
If Jesus Came to Your House
If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two,
If He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you'd do.
Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room to such an Honored Guest.
And all the food you'd serve to Him would be the very best.
And you would keep assuring Him you're glad to have Him there,
That serving Him in your own home is joy beyond compare.
But when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door,
with arms outstretched in welcome to your Heavenly Visitor?
Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in?
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they'd been?
Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn't heard?
And wish you hadn't uttered that last, loud, hasty word?
Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymnbooks out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?
And I wonder if the Saviour spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?
Would you go right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
Would your family conversation keep up its usual pace?
And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?
Would you sing the songs you always sing and read the books you read?
And let Him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?
Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you'd planned to go?
Or would you, maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?
Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends?
Or would you hope they'd stay away until His visit ends?
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief when He, at last was gone?
It might be interesting to know the things that you would do
If Jesus Christ in person were to come to spend some time with you.

Tuesday Bible Study
Just wanted to let everyone know that we are having a weiner roast on Tuesday night. We will provide the hot dogs, buns, and drinks. If you could bring a lawn chair, and a stick to roast the dogs, it would be helpful. Anything else you want to bring to go along with that would be great. We will have a bond fire west of the house on our little cement slab rather than the fire pit. So invite someone and come enjoy the evening!

Our Prayers
Our Prayers go out to Michaela Haemmerle in the loss of her Grandfather, Glen M. Hurst. It is such a void in our life when we lose a grandparent - most of us know what that feels like, so we need to uplift Michaela as she goes through this process. Let her know you are thinking about her.

Ronnie Milsap
I bought this CD and I love it! I heard him interviewed on the radio and could not wait to get a copy. At first i was like, Oh, that was so impulsive, I shouldn't have done that. But now I'm so glad I did. I went to three stores looking for it and had to order it. Then I had to wait for it to come in. And on the first listen through I was like, well, it's okay, but on my third listen through I just really love it. I can't explain it but I just had to have it and now that I do I can't stop listening to it.

Tonight!
Just wanted to remind everyone about Bible Study tonight at 6:30 at Morse Park Beach. We are looking forward to it - sounds like a nice evening weather wise too! Not sure what Paulette is bringing for food, but I'm sure we will not starve. If anyone else has an idea what they are bringing, it might help the rest decide so it will all go together. Hope we have a big turn-out this evening. See you all tonight!

The Heart
"Tomorrow morning," the surgeon began, "I'll open up your heart..."
>
"You'll find Jesus there," the boy interrupted.
the surgeon looked up, annoyed "I'll cut your heart open," he continued, to see how much damage has been done..."
>
"but when you open up my heart, you'll find Jesus in there," said the boy.
>
The surgeon looked to the parents, who sat quietly. "When I see how much damage has been done, I'll sew your heart and chest back up, and I'll plan what to do next."
>
"But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns all say He lives there. You'll find Him in my heart."
>
The surgeon had had enough. "I'll tell you what I'll find in your heart.
I'll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels. And I'll find out if I can make you well."
>
"You'll find Jesus there too. He lives there."
>
The surgeon left.
>
The surgeon sat in his office, recording his notes from the surgery,
"...damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, widespread muscle degeneration. No hope for transplant, no hope for cure. Therapy: painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis: here he paused, "death within one year."
>
He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. "Why?" he asked aloud. "Why did You do this? You've put him here; You've put him in this pain; and You've cursed him to an early death. Why?"
>
The Lord answered and said, "The boy, my lamb, was not meant for your flock for long, for he is a part of My flock, and will forever be.
Here, in My flock, he will feel no pain, and will be comforted as you cannot imagine.
>
His parents will one day join him here, and they will know peace, and My flock will continue to grow..."
>
The surgeon's tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. "You created that boy, and You created that heart. He'll be dead in months.. Why?"
>
The Lord answered, "The boy, My lamb, shall return to My flock, for He has done his duty: I did not put My lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve another lost lamb."
The surgeon wept...
The surgeon sat beside the boy's bed; the boy's parents sat across from him. The boy awoke and whispered, "Did you cut open my heart?"
>
"Yes," said the surgeon.
"What did you find?" asked the boy.
"I found Jesus there," said the surgeon.

My Friend Steve
I received word that Steve Daugherty is back home from the hospital, a wonderful development. He is gravely ill, but at least no longer requires in hospital intensive care. He has daily nursing care. Thank you so much for all the prayers on his behalf. He is an extraordinary friend and I love him very much.

We Have This Moment
The following words are to the song that Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote that I played for offering last Sunday. The title of the song is "We Have This Moment" .
1. Hold tight to the sound of the music of living, Happy songs from the laughter of children at play; Hold my hand as we run through the sweet fragrant meadows, Making memories of what was today.
2. Tiny voice that I hear is my little girl calling for Daddy to hear just what she has to say; My little son running by the hillside may never be quite like today.
3. Tender words, gentle touch, and a good cup of coffee, And someone that loves me and wants me to stay; Hold them near while they're here, and don't wait for tomorrow, to look back and wish for today.
4. Take the blue of the sky and the green of the forest and the gold and the brown of the freshly mown hay, Add the pale shades of spring and the circus of autumn, and weave you a lovely today.
Chorus: For we have this moment to hold in our hands, and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand; Yesterday's gone, and tomorrow may never come, but we have this moment today.
As Paulette and I reflect on our sister-in-law's life, this song touches my heart even more. Another song they wrote is called: "Hear The Voice Of My Beloved" - Here are the words to it:
1. Hear the voice of my beloved, gently call at close of day, "Come, my love; oh, come and meet me. Rise, oh rise and come away." "Come, my love; oh, come and meet me. Rise, oh, rise and come away!"
2. Winter's dark will soon be over and the rains are nearly done; Flowers bloom and trees are budding, time for singing has begun. Flowers bloom and trees are budding, time for singing has begun.
3. I have waited through the shadows for my Lord to call for me; Now the morning breaks eternal; In its light His face I see. Now the morning breaks eternal, and at last His face I see.
4. When you see the fig tree budding, you will know the summer's near. When you hear the words I've spoken, you will know my coming's near. Keep on listening my beloved, for my coming's very near.
Hope the above words bless you today.

Beautiful
1. Beautiful robes so white,
Beautiful land of light,
Beautiful home so bright,
Where there shall come no night;
Beautiful crown I’ll wear,
Shining with stars o’er there,
Yonder in mansions fair,
Gather us there.
* Refrain:
Beautiful robes,
Beautiful land,
Beautiful home,
Beautiful band;
Beautiful crown,
Shining so fair;
Beautiful mansion bright,
Gather us there.
2. Beautiful thought to me,
We shall forever be
Thine in eternity,
When from this world we’re free;
Free from its toil and care,
Heavenly joys to share,
Let me cross over there,
This is my prayer.
3. Beautiful things on high,
Over in yonder sky,
Thus I shall leave this shore,
Counting my treasures o’er;
Where we shall never die,
Carry me, by and by,
Never to sorrow more,
Heavenly store.

Love bears all things, believes all things,
Hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.

Prayer
We received word yesterday that Paulette's sister-in-law, Mary Menard who has been on our prayer list passed away. Although we don't know all the arrangements, we do know that her body will be brought back to Indiana and a service will be held sometime this week and she will be buried at East Union Cemetery near Ekin. Please pray for Paulette's brother Butch as he tries to deal with all of this. They were a very close couple and it will be very difficult for him in the days to come. Mary was 59 years old and suffered from liver failure due to a rare disease that genetically hit nearly all of her siblings. She will be missed by all of us who loved her. The good news is that she was a Christian and ready to meet the Lord.

Food Pantry
The following email was received from White River Christian Church concerning the Food Pantry outreach this past week:
Friends,
We had a total of 83 families this past Thursday at the pantry. 16 of those guests were first time visitors. Thank you to everyone who responded to the plea for food. Through you God provided plenty of items to help our families through another week. The families received bread and pastry items that are donated weekly from Paradise Cafe and Third Phase, ears of corn donated from a families farm, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and other garden items from many church families, 1 or 2 bags of non-perishable items (depending on their family size) and a gallon of milk and 2 meat items. Their carts were overflowing as was their gratitude. Thank you all for your generousity in helping others. We are overjoyed with some news that we got this week. Meijer grocery store has chosen the White River Christian Church food pantry to assist! This is awesome in many ways. One of the biggest ways is that when you are shopping at Meijer or buying gas at Meijer you can purchase a $10.00 "Simply Give" card (or as many $10 cards as you wish) and Meijer will keep record of this purchase and match it dollar for dollar with a donation to the pantry. It is very simple to do. The cards are available at the self-scan isle. Just take it to the cashier when you pay for your items and they will do the rest. They will match donations up to $100,000!! Our first opportunity to receive this is now underway. It started on August 2 and runs through September 26. As I mentioned, we are overjoyed with this opportunity that God has blessed us with. If you have any questions about this promotion, please give me a call. We need all of your help in getting the word out to your neighbors, friends, family, co-workers. In addition to the "Simply Give" cards that can be purchased at Meijer we are in need of boxes of cereal, pasta sauce, spaghetti, hamburger helper, boxed potatoes and toilet paper, sugar and flour. For the first time I can remember I am happy to say we have been blessed through a couple of sources with diapers. Wipes are always needed as well as dish soap, shampoo and deodarant. Kroger is running a great 10 for $10 promotion. Finally, we are running low on plastic bags to put bread items in and paper bags to give groceries out in if you could help us by recycling yours through us. Please continue to pray for the pantry and our many volunteers. While it is a blessing to be part of this ministry, there is a great deal of work physically as well as emotionally that goes into it. Please consider becoming part of our food pantry team.
Blessings,

Children's Prayers
I wanted to share with you all the beauty of children's prayers from our Sunday School class we had on Sunday. We are studying the book of Genesis and the wonderful creations that God has brought to our lives. And we have made a habit of asking everyone something they want to thank God for or pray about. And wanted to share.
God will you please help take away the poi sen ivy from my papa hands. Maybe he can use finger nail polish remover to help it.
God will you help my mom not work on Sundays.
God I have nothing to pray for because my little brother is good.
God will you help our Sunday school glass get bigger.
Thank you God for the dirt so the grass can grow so we can play on it.
I think of the scripture every time I am with them. Matthew 18:4-5
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Sunday Meeting
Church on Sunday was wonderful! And the luncheon afterward was so nice. The decorations were lovely and the cake was so beautiful and delicious! All of the attention paid to all of the little details made the event so special.(thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it so nice) I know Hubert and Geneva sure seemed surprised! And all of the food was great. Did you know that they met on a blind date? They are the cutest couple. I love how closely they sit to one another at church. And they had their corsages on too. Such lovely people.
Anyway, below are the words to their song:
Long and Lasting Love
We've all come to celebrate
A long and lasting love.
72 years true. Sent from up above.
Hubert and Geneve, How did you know
back in 37, Your love would only grow
A long and lasting love
Hearts so true, Life in Harmony
Together all this time
Still your love light shines
That's how it's meant to be.
Hey Bob, what was the title to the song that you played by Bill and Gloria? The one you recited the words to? I want to print those out, it's such a pretty, touching song.

Recently I have been facing some very hard times in my walk with Jesus Christ. I was almost forced to leave Hinkle Creek Friends, my school, and my family.
During the bad times i realized that a person can't try to fix things on their own, but rather they should go to GOD for everything.
My Dad recently moved back here to Indiana from Arizona, and was a big block in my walk with Christ. He was an Atheist and found my faith to be very disturbing. Eventually it began to drive a wedge between my Dad and I. Soon enough I began to resent him for living, and being my Father. After a while all of his criticism went to my heart. I thought about suicide. However, some very good friends and family talked me out of it. I began to read the Bible, and pray that my Dad would be delt with in a way that he could leave my life and I wouldn't have to see him ever again.
This past Friday, I was shocked by a surprise visit from my Dad. I found out that he was done living in Indiana and was leaving for Arizona ASAP.
I believe that the trouble that I went through was a huge test from Heaven. I will return to Hinkle on Sunday, August 23, 2009.
Thank all of you for your prayers!

Reminder and Shhhhhhhh!
Just a reminder that we are having a surprise little reception with some cake, punch, sandwiches and finger food (a nice lunch) immediately following services on Sunday to celebrate Hubert and Geneva Berry's 72nd wedding anniversary. They don't know anything about it, so let's all keep it quiet from them. Thank goodness they don't have a computer to see this! I thought it would be nice if we could have a card shower for them. What an accomplishment and example to all of us married folk!
How many other things are we missing?
Washington DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.
4 minutes later:
the violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the till and, without stopping, continued to walk.
6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.
10 minutes:
A 3 year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly, as the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced them to move on.
45 minutes:
The musician played. Only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk their normal pace.
He collected $32.
1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.
No one knew this but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.
This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities. The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ....
How many other things are we missing?
Thanks!
Thanks to everyone who came last evening. What a beautiful evening to be outside! Good food, good fellowship, and a wonderful Bible study in the Gospel of Mark. Will did a great job leading us.

Are we a perfect Church???
I don’t know why, but I keep thinking about our Church and wonder what people perceive when they grace our doors. When you are looking for a Church to be the anchor in your life, it’s sort of like looking for a house. You want to make sure the foundation is sound and not crumbling. Most homes you look at need little repairs here and there – maybe a little paint and sweeping out. I think that’s how it is with the Church. I feel like our Church has a sound foundation, but at times it needs to be swept, freshened up, and maintained. Some folks look for the “perfect church” to serve their needs. It’s sad to say, but they will never find it. Are we perfect? No – absolutely not! But we are a church that is striving to be kept in good repair (spiritually speaking) and each time we gather, we do a sort of sweeping of our soul and re-examine our walk. I think the glue that holds us together is the love we all share for each other. I love it that we don’t have gimmicks to draw people to us. This is a genuine, humble, and loving congregation. There will always be some who come to us and not find that special gimmick to keep them there, but if only they could participate in the fellowship and learn what true worship is all about, they would surely want to stay and be a part of who we are. As in the manner of Friends, I’m always so amazed how many people make private decisions to follow Christ then to see first hand the growth that happens in those individuals. I suppose some Pastors feel like a failure if they don’t see souls saved each week – but I have never felt that way. When I look back over the years of this ministry my mind goes back to the many people who have made decisions privately and talked with me privately about it. I realized a long time ago, that people come to the Lord through the seeds that are sown by not only the Pastor, but the people who live their lives as an example. Another huge factor in having a healthy Church is having a congregation that is non-judgemental. I believe with all of my heart that this attitude is pleasing to the Lord. When I think of His many encounters with the sinner – he never judged them. He only said – “go and sin no more”. The Bible tells us that each person is to work out their own salvation. Salvation is between the sinner and the Lord as each of us “individually” must answer to the Lord in those matters. No – I don’t give an “alter call” very often – but that isn’t to say that I’m denying people the opportunity of Salvation. It is birthed in the heart as we feed ourselves spiritually through the Word, the sermon, Sunday School classes, and the fellowship of like believers.
Hey – maybe we are almost perfect!!!! People are being saved – maybe not in the way some think they should be, but they are being saved and I’m seeing the fruit of those decisions in many people’s lives. Praise God for Hinkle Creek Friends and the newness and fresh Spirit He has bestowed upon us.

Just a reminder abou the Bible Study tonight at our house! Beautiful day, so we ARE having it on the deck. Hope everyone can come tonight! Looking forward to seeing you all!
Have a tissue handy.....
This is a beautiful testimony and you won't know if you're crying because you are happy or sad. But it's worth watching even if it's mixed with sadness.

A house divided cannot stand!
Matthew 12:22-32 (King James Version)
22Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
23And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
25And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
28But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
30He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
31Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Wednesday Night Bible Study
We will be hosting the Bible Study this Wednesday night. Paulette is planning to make spaghetti and sauce casserole along with a salad with Italian dressing and breadsticks. We will probably have sliced tomatoes on the side too. Hope you all can come. Sounds like the weather will be great to have it on the deck! Not sure what Will is having for the study this week. Maybe he will post that for us so we can read ahead of time.
Information expressed at Monthly Meeting
Good morning Friends,
I wanted to post the websites for the information that I spoke of yesterday at Monthly Meeting. Gary Wright is currently the Pastor at Rush-Creek Tangier Meeting in Park County and is the only Quaker Evangelist that I'm aware of who travels to spread the gospel through preaching and music.
Evangelical Friends International is the Quaker organization that would be compared to FUM. This group split from FUM many years ago because they felt that too much liberalism was being introduced into FUM and the focus had shifted from the message of Christ and the diety of Him. There is a request being made that a new yearly meeting be formed under this group in our area for those who wish to separate from Western Yearly Meeting and FUM.
Gary Wright's website is: www.worldrenewal.home.insightbb.com
Evangelical Friends International Eastern Region's website is: www.efcer.org
Hope this puts a face with what I talked about yesterday.

Food Bank
Alex and I made a donation today at the Food Bank. What was really neat is we got to put it away and I really enjoyed watching my son be involved in this. As I was passing one of the aisle that he was putting food away he was humming. And he would come tell me where I needed to put things. A nice lady by the name of Debby was the only person working to get it ready for the distribution today for families at 3:30. She asked me my name and I shared with her how we heard about the mission. And when I told her Hinkle Creek Church she stated that their has been a huge out pouring of donations from our church. She showed us the piles of corn that Bev had shared with them. How proud I was to say I was a member of such a giving church. As Alex and I walked down each aisle we took note of things that they either had none or just a hand full. I have included this list of anyone is interested in donating these items. As we were leaving a little guy about the same age of my son walked to us in the parking lot and asked when the food pantry was open. He said he was their to get food for his family. I pray today stays with my son.

I woke up today with a heavy mind. So many of my friends and family are in a "depression" or sad about issues in their lives. I struggle with right words for each person or something that may lift them up. I have told some to pray because I don't have the words or experience to say something. I have reminded some of them blessings that I can see in their lives. I think about myself when I have those days or weeks. Its no fun being on that end of the table. Where you feel like nobody cares, that any minute somebody is going to remind you that last few dollars you have is for a bill. Depression can destroy a day, a relationship and a life. Do nonbelievers look at us and wonder why we don't depend on our God. Use the faith we talk about? And with that simple question I decided explore and read on this subject. I am guilty of the same emotions as my friends. Do I sound that way or say things that make others think I don't have faith? Here is what I read and pulled together to share with my friends and to save for my rainy day.
Depression: A state of feeling sad - an emotion. Realize that you can't base life on your emotions.
Christians base life on truth, not feelings. Philippians 4:1 commands us to rejoice (whether we feel like it or not!). And James 1:2 asks us to “Consider it all joy when we fall into various trials.” Notice that James doesn't tell us to feel joyful; he tells us to reckon, to choose to think about your situation as a spot where you can have joy.
Faith
Choosing to trust truth rather than your feelings may require a lot of faith. And if that is what we mean by asking if faith can solve depression, then faith may be enough in some cases. Trusting what God says rather than your feelings is certainly a more realistic approach to life
Heed God's Advice
However, many people talk about “faith” and only mean a vague hope that God will somehow pull them through. That's too nebulous a concept to be reliable. Many of the same people who claim to have faith keep plunging through life ignoring God's principles for healthy living. If we spurn the good advice that the Bible contains, we won't escape the consequences - even if we have faith.
So next time I am depressed I am going to read my own post. And here is a simple checklist for myself.
*Avoid being alone. Force yourself to be with people.
*Seek help from others.
*Sing. Music can uplift your spirit as it did for King Saul (1 Samuel 16:14-23).
*Praise and give thanks. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
*Lean heavily on the power of God's Word.
*Rest confidently in the presence of God's Spirit. “Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance” (Psalm 42:5).

The above s the link to Whitney Kings caring Bridge web page. She is the young lady who was life lined to Methodist after a car accident. She is from Noblesville but lives in Bloomington. Her family and friends are there everyday to encourage her and one another. I thought you might like to see her picture and there is some news about her recovery. Seems like she's doing well considering all that has transpired. Thank You~

Breakfast
I apologize that I forgot to put in the bulletin that this Sunday is our monthly fellowship breakfast at 9:30. Pass the word around so we will have a nice turn-out! It's been a long time since we've gathered together for breakfast. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday morning for that.
Yearly Meeting
Good morning Friends,
Yesterday turned out to be an interesting day at the Yearly Meeting. I found that not much was resolved due to all the people who came and blocked any decisions that were before the body. I won't go into detail on here, but it appears that a major shake-up is about to happen within the Yearly Meeting and I believe it will all be for the good. The events that face us in the future will be historical and we will be very much involved in it. It will NOT affect who we are and anything about us as a Church - but I'm seeing a bonding together of many of the Churches who believe as we do and I think something new and wonderful will emerge from it all. I'll explain all of this as I find out more to the whole body. I will be reporting at Monthly Meeting this Sunday if you would like to stay and hear about it.

Prayer for my grandparents
Tim and I traveled to Maryland over the weekend to see my grandparents. My grandmother has Alzheimer's. My grandfather is in very low spirits. Each time we see her we notice such a difference in her demeanor and personality. But as I watched my grandfather take care of her as if she was a 10 year it amazed me at how much he is doing each day and the pain he must be feeling. I tried to put myself mentally in their shoes and the sadness was so great. They will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in a few weeks and she doesn't even remember. We looked at old pictures and she would think baby pictures of my grandpa were her oldest son. Please pray for her strength as she wakes up each day and peace as she goes to sleep each night. She has nightly hours of crying. My grandpa was told that it was her knowing in her heart what was happening and feeling the loss. I ask you to pray for my grandpa to give him wisdom and strength to keep enduring. And mostly that they can still enjoy the love the have for each other as much as possible. I read this poem made me want to go hug everyone that had had to deal with this ugly disease.
Pray for me I was once like you.
Be kind and loving to me that's how I would have treated you.
Remember I was once someones parent or spouse I had a life and a
dream for the future.
Speak to me, I can hear you even if I don't understand
what you are saying. Speak to me of things in my past of
which I can still relate.
Be considerate of me, my days are such a struggle.
Think of my feelings because I still have them and can feel pain.
Treat me with respect because I would have treated you that way.
Think of how I was before I got Alzheimer's; I was full of life,
I had a life, laughed and loved you.
Think of how I am now, My disease distorts my thinking, my
feelings, and my ability to respond, but I still love you even if I can't tell you.
Think about my future because I used too.
Remember I was full of hope for the future just like you are now.
Think how it would be to have things locked in your mind and
can't let them out. I need you to understand and not blame me,
but Alzheimer's.
I still need the compassion and the touching and most of all I
still need you to love me.
Keep me in your prayers because I am between life and death.
The love you give will be a blessing from God and both of us will
live forever.
How you live and what you do today will always be remembered
in the heart of the Alzheimer's Patient.
Thank God for my strong Pappy! I love him so much.
