Gray Friends

I drive past this church every day on my way to and from work. I always check to see if there is a car in the parking lot because I really want to see inside sometime. There never is. Yesterday I had my camera so I stopped and took a few pictures. It's really a pretty little church. But the traffic on that corner is really, really heavy. It made me appreciate the peace and quiet we enjoy in our little corner of the world. I shutter to think of a Walgreens moving in across the street. Once again I am reminded to count my blessings. I don't know how Gray Friends is fairing in the brave new world that is popping up all around it. It seems that being in the middle of such population growth it would be thriving! I hope it is. Standing on that property and imagining how things used to look before the cars and concrete took over and I felt like I was standing in between two seperate worlds. I still want to see inside someday. I hope it never is turned into a boutique or a restaurant. I hope it is always a church, a church that God can call home.

Rev. Klingensmith and his wife Marcia transferred their membership from Hinkle to Gray Friends when he retired from the ministry at Hinkle. Their home was just about a mile east then the first house south on Cherry Tree Rd. It is a very quaint Meetinghouse.
