These photographs are stunning, please take the time to look at them. I am amazed by them and each one has it's own story to tell. Incredible.
FSA-Photographer unknown, situation unknown, as was the case with many amazing images in the archive. This edit of images has been done in order to increase awareness of the amazing work done by the more than 100 photographers who contributed to the Farm Security Administration project. While we tend to think of Lange, Evans, Lee and a few others as being the backbone of the project, the truth is far from that.

Count your Blessings
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.
Words: Johnson Oatman, Jr., in Songs for Young People, by Edwin Excell (Chicago, Illinois: 1897).
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Refrain
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

taking food to Jay
We are taking some cookies and pasta salad to Jay and Courtney today. Just a reminder that they would still really appreciate and could really use a delivered home cooked meal every so often.

Hinkle Creek Youth!
We have been offered an opportunity for our teenagers to dip ice cream at the Indiana State Fair for a fundraiser (Friday, August 5th, or Saturday, August 13th). Tickets are provided and there is opportunity to walk the fair and experience it as well.
We learned about this fundraising opportunity through Anderson Friends and they have offered to share this experience with us.
Michaela has expressed interest in going and is hoping to have company! This money can be used for camp tuition next year or any other activities that pop up between now and then. Later this year Anderson Friends are having a concert and have invited our youth to come, so this would be a great chance for everyone to meet!
Let me know as soon as possible, Thanks. ~Kelly 317-691-2329

WE'RE BACK!
Hello everyone!
We are back from one of the greatest experiences I've ever had at a Yearly Meeting Session! The focus on it all and the theme was "God has a Dream". We heard wonderful messages from Jan Wood from Northwest Yearly Meeting speak to the depth of our hearts. The main focus of the Sessions was Worship and uplifting each other. A very different experience than I've seen in a long time. We were blessed with beautiful music from Jan Crouch (this is a man) from Farmland, Indiana who has a real gift at the piano. He has quite a story and Paulette and I got well acquainted with him while there. He has agreed to come and minister to us through his gift of music sometime in August on a Sunday morning. You won't want to miss this when he comes!
We were so welcomed into Indiana Yearly Meeting and over and over again we were told that Hinkle was a breath of fresh air in the Yearly Meeting. We haven't grasped that yet, but apparently it is true! We were hugged and loved on like I've never experienced before. I'm guessing that we will have visitors from time to time from Indiana Yearly Meeting Churches that want to know who we are and get acquainted with us. I certainly welcome any of them to come and worship with us. We were also blessed with beautiful music from a trio of men from the Westfield Union Bible College and we hosted the President of that college and his wife along with the Superintendent of Central Yearly Meeting and his wife. Union Friends in Westfield is under the care of Central Yearly Meeting.
We received word while there, that Western Yearly Meeting approved in session to release the Beryl Baliff fund to Indiana Yearly Meeting's endowment so it can continue to do what Beryl requested in her will. Praise God that this issue is finally settled.
God has truly blessed Hinkle along with Westfield to open the door and allow us to be a part of this great organization. I look forward to many interactions with them and hope you will become interested in them as well.
As soon as I know the date that Jan Crouch can come, I'll be sure to make an advance announcement and request that you invite someone to come and be blessed by his ministry.
Remember that starting the evening of August 3rd, at 6:30 p.m. - Doug Shoemaker will be coming to teach a series to us on Quakerism and Indiana Yearly Meeting. After talking to Doug while there, we agreed we should open this up to Westfield Friends as well, so we are looking to host Friends from Westfield Meeting to go through this course of study. I pray the Lord will speak to your heart about coming to support and learn during this special time together with Doug. He is excited about being with us and sharing this curriculum.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday! Have a great week!!

Praise Report from Quaker Haven!

IYM extends a heartfelt welcome to the entire congregation.
Bob is so happy to be around such loving and supportive friends.
Praise be to God!
A BEAUTIFUL PRAYER by Miss Joanne Gobure from Uaboe in Nauru
I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.It is not for me to take away,
but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole,
his body is only temporary
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
it isn't granted, it is learned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.
I give you blessings;
Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own,
but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life,
so that you may enjoy all things.
I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said...Ahhhh,
finally you have the idea.

Wait
Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master who gently said,
"Child, you must wait."
"Wait You say wait!" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word
"My future and all to which I can relate
Hangs in the balance, and YOU tell me to WAIT?
I'm needing a 'yes' a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.
"And Lord, You promised that if we believe
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
Lord, I've been asking and this is my cry;
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply!"
Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate.
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and tout
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting. . . for what?"
He seemed, then to kneel and His eyes wept with mine,
And he tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.
"All you seek I could give and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want — but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.
"You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
You'd know that I live and I save . . . (for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.
"The glow of My comfort late into the night.
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.
"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that 'My grace is sufficient for Thee.'
Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true,
But, Oh the loss! If I lost what I'm doing to you!
"So be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me
And though oft' may My answers seem terribly late
My most precious answer of all is still, "WAIT".

A message from Bev
The response to taking food to Jay and Courtney has been good. Cookies Monday , Meatloaf and veggies Tuesday , I think Noodles Wednesday. So = if anyone of you were planning anything this week maybe wait till the end of the week or the weekend. It really helps to know who is taking and what day so we can spread it out a bit.
I called Jay to tell him to expect someone at his door bringing something to him once in a while and he received that news very well and said that was good. I know Courtney will be excited about this.
Thank you to everyone who is helping with this outreach. I hope we can continue to do this for Jay = we don’t have to do this every week but whenever you can would be great= and if there is anyone else that you think we could do this for please let me know. Also please keep in touch as to if and when you will be taking something to Jay. We don’t want a lot one week and nothing the next.

I am asking for prayer for Kim DeMasie. Kim attends White River Christian Church and is the team leader for the food pantry there. Kim just found out she has breast cancer. She lives in my neighborhood and I work with her son. She is an RN at Riverview on her way to becoming a nurse practitioner. I believe her to be approx my age. Please find below her latest post on the WRCC Outreach blog. She is an awesome woman and I would love it if we could all pray for her.
thank you, Kelly

Thank you for everyone who purchased a "Simply Gives" gift card from Meijer. We picked up $3200 from them last week! That will be a tremendous help!
Our needs this week include oatmeal, pop-tarts, pancake mix, jello, pudding, cake and brownie mix, juices, beans, rice, pasta sauce, canned meats and boxed dinners and potatoes. If you just bring in 2-3 items it really helps. Just put the items in your car and bring them to church with you. It is a great witness for your kids to see you caring about people going through a hardship in your own backyard. As your garden vegetables grow, please remember others as well!
thank you, Kelly

Food Panty News
Mmmmm, smell the wonderful aroma of grilled cheese! Dawn Campbell cooked 170 sandwiches that were enjoyed by adults and children alike. With school out for the summer, and many kids not getting breakfast or lunch at school, several kids ate 2-3! We have also been blessed through a connection with Food Rescue and received 25 large 1 topping pizzas from Little Ceasers that provided dinner to families that Larry Bultman graciously picks up each week. We had 112 guests this week including 8 new ones. They were helped by 12 volunteers stocking on Tuesday and 35 on Thursday. Becky Symmes makes sure we have plenty of breads and sweets that Marsh donates and each family got buns and bread in addition to their groceries. We even had left over bread that was donated to inner city families in Indianapolis. Thanks to Brad Graber for donating several tomato plants to families and volunteers as well to bring in produce.Thank you for everyone who purchased a "Simply Gives" gift card from Meijer. TONIGHT - TOO HOT TO COOK!
Paulette said it was too hot to cook, so we are bringing sliced ham for sandwiches along with the bread and some chips, iced tea, and of course I'll make coffee! Anything you would like to bring to go along with that would be great.

INFORMATION ON IYM SESSIONS - PLEASE READ!
I have the registration forms for anyone wanting to attend the Indiana Yearly Meeting Sessions up at Quaker Haven Camp. Deadline for registering is this week - July 14th!!!! I realize that most of you cannot block out the whole time to be there, but I am asking if as many of you as possible could plan to attend the "Feast Of Faith" which will be held on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m., August 23rd. The cost for that event only is $12.00 per person. They will be recognizing Hinkle as a new member of Indiana Yearly Meeting. Along with the meal, there will be entertainment from "The Witness Trio" from the Union Bible College. Following the "Feast of Faith", you are invited to attend the Recording Service for new Pastors in Indiana Yearly Meeting. If you don't have a registration form, just send your check (made out to Indiana Yearly Meeting) along with your name, address, phone number, email address, and state that you are from Hinkle to: Indiana Yearly Meeting, 4715 N. Wheeling Ave., Muncie, In. 47304-1222 or you may fax your information for your registration to 765-284-8925. You can go to the IYM website at www.iym.org for more information and contact information if you want to send it via emial. I'm in great hopes that we will have a nice turnout to represent Hinkle. Maybe some of you could carpool and take a group. Paulette and I are going for the whole session arriving on Thursday, July 21st and will return sometime on Sunday, the 24th. So, we will meet you there! By the way, the "Feast of Faith" will be held in the Activity Building rather than the Dining Hall. So, there should be plenty of room for everyone! If you have any questions or need a registration form, please let me know!

Our teens made it to camp!
Thank you Bob for getting my message and putting the request on the blog! Here are a couple of pictures from roadtrip there today. The Hinkle Creek Teen Boys are all in the same cabin and their cabin dad is a young man that is apart of the IYM.
The girls are all together with 12 in their cabin. More girls this year. We really liked Lauren their dorm mom.
Thank you all for the prayers this morning. They were all so jumpy and excited to get there. We heard it over and over how much they love camp. All the kids would see old friends and reconnect.
Emails to our Campers!
We need your assistance. Each year our kids have to be called out during daily camp Church Service and sing a mini solo in front of everyone if they get more than 3 emails from home. We as a Church Family have been successful in this each year for our teens. You can send one email a day with Dear (teen's name) with a hello. The camp email is info@quakerhaven.com
I'd love to hear that our kids got to sing a lot during their stay!! Also shows we are thinking about them!

PRAY FOR OUR TEENS!
Would you join me in praying for our teens as they take off to Quaker Haven Camp in the morning? They will be meeting at the Church before they leave and I for one will be there to pray with them before they go. I will have the Church unlocked and waiting on them at 9:00 a.m.. I believe they plan to be on the road by 9:30. If any of you would like to join and lift them up, you are certainly welcome to come. We need to pray for their safety, traveling mercies, and most of all that they will receive something special from God that will be life changing for them all! They need the support and prayers from their Church Family!

WE'RE BACK!!!
Just wanted to let you all know that we are back from Pastor's Short Course at Quaker Haven. What a wonderful spirit filled time we had!!! Just awesome!!! Thank you all so much for allowing us and paying for us to attend this great event that has really fed our souls! After being there among the wonderful Pastors and their families this week, it reconfirmed that we have done the right thing moving to Indiana Yearly Meeting. What wonderful people we met and believe it or not, I may have gained weight!! We had breakfast, then snacks (usually cake or brownies) on our break mid-morning, a full lunch at noon, dinner at 5:30, then more snacks and even ice cream sundaes after our evening sessions!!! So much food!!! And yes, we had popcorn over the open fire near the lake. I felt like I was a camper! Hopefully we have been fed so that may in turn feed you. Thank you again!!!

PRAYER NEEDED
I received a call this morning that Kelly Haemmerle's brother-in-law in Tennessee died in his sleep last night. Kelly is on her way there to be with her sister. Please remember this family in your prayers today as they go through this rough time and untimely death that has sent shock waves throughout their family.

IMMEDIATE PRAYER NEEDED
I just received a text from Kelly asking for prayer. Kyndrick (Stephanie's boyfriend) has had a reaction to an antibiotic and is in the hospital trying to get some help. Please pray for Kendrick that they will be able to stop this reaction.
Got Destry home and he had a great time at Camp. Just really badly sunburned! But, Praise the Lord - He accepted Christ while at Camp and was a very happy young man! Makes it worth it all!!!!!!
