One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
Hear the children crying (One Love)
Hear the children crying (One Heart)
Sayin' give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Sayin' let's get together and feel all right

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love)
There is one question I'd really like to ask (One Heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?
Believe me

One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love)
So shall it be in the end (One Heart)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
One more thing

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armageddon (One Love)
So when the Man comes there will be no no doom (One Song)
Have pity on those whose chances grove thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation

Sayin' One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
I'm pleading to mankind (One Love)
Oh Lord (One Heart)

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Let's get together and feel all right
I believe that sorrow leads to brokenness, which brings a humility before God that leads to surrender of our will. That surrender gives us the power to make the faith-filled decisions to free us from the sorrow and pain.

Favorite Band+Favorite Song=Awesome!

When DID Noah build the Ark?

I was watching a movie last night with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt in it. Someone asked R.R a question and he answered their question with a question. They asked him why he was doing something, like "And, why are you doing this now?" and he stopped and said... "When did Noah build the ark? "...Before it rained, BEFORE it rained." And he walked off. I just thought it was such a great answer. And it's useful in so many situations.

There's also a great song called Walking in Jeruselum and that song starts out with the question,"Are you ready?" and a "I'm trying to get ready" "I'm trying to get my house in order, so I can walk in Jeruselum just like John" and then it says"You don't knock, ring, push or hold, the doors wide open waiting for your soul, you don't knock, you just walk on in."

And also in the Bible we read that there is a time for everything,
A time to plant and a time to reap. Ecclesiastes 3:1

And also the famous song People Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield which is considered by many to be one of the greatest songs ever written.

People get ready, there's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord

People get ready for the train to Jordan
It's picking up passengers from coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board 'em
There's hope for all among those loved the most.

There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there's no hiding place against the Kingdom's throne

So people get ready, there's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord

Noah lived by faith, yet he was obedient as well. That is a powerful combination.

Gifts of the Spirit - What Are They?
Gifts of the Spirit are special abilities provided by the Holy Spirit to Christians for the purpose of building up the body of Christ. The list of spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 includes wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Similar lists appear in Ephesians 4:7-13 and Romans 12:3-8. The gifts of the Spirit are simply God enabling believers to do what He has called us to do. 2 Peter 1:3 says, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." The gifts of the Holy Spirit are part of the "everything we need" to fulfill His purposes for our lives.

Gifts of the Spirit - The Definitions
There is some controversy as to the precise nature of each of the gifts of the Spirit, but here is a list of spiritual gifts and their basic definitions.

  • The gift of wisdom seems to be the ability to make decisions and give guidance that is according to God's will.
  • The gift of knowledge is the ability to have an in-depth understanding of a spiritual issue or situation.
  • The gift of faith is being able to trust God and encourage others to trust God, no matter the circumstances.
  • The gift of healing is the miraculous ability to use God's healing power to restore a person who is sick, injured, or suffering.
  • The gift of miracles is being able to perform signs and wonders that give authenticity to God's Word and the Gospel message.
  • The gift of prophecy is being able to proclaim a message from God.
  • The gift of discerning spirits is the ability to determine whether or not a message, person, or event is truly from God.
  • The gift of tongues is the ability to speak in a foreign language that you do not have knowledge of, in order to communicate with someone who speaks that language.
  • The gift of interpreting tongues is the ability to translate the tongues speaking and communicate it back to others in your own language.
  • The gift of administration is being able to keep things organized and in accordance with God's principles.
  • The gift of helps is always having the desire and ability to help others, to do whatever it takes to get a task accomplished.
Gifts of the Spirit - Which One(s) Do I Have?
The Holy Spirit distributes the gifts of the Spirit as He sees fit (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). God does not want us to be ignorant of how He wants us to serve Him. However, it is very easy for us to get caught up in what spiritual gift(s) we have and then only serve God in that area of ministry. That is not how it works. God calls us to obediently serve Him. He will equip us with whatever gifts of the Spirit we need to accomplish the task or tasks He has called us to. Yes, God calls some to be teachers and gives them the gift of teaching, but that does not excuse the person from serving God in other ways as well. Is it beneficial to know what spiritual gift(s) God has given you? Of course, it is. Is it wrong to focus so much on spiritual gifts that we miss other opportunities to serve God? Yes!

There is no magic formula or spiritual gift test that can tell you what gifts of the Spirit you possess. What we need to focus on is serving God. Do you see a need in your church? Do what you can to meet it. Is there a position in a ministry that is vacant? Pray as to whether God would have you fill it. If we seek God's will and obey His leading, He will always equip us with whatever gifts of the Spirit we need. Spiritual gift tests can be of some value in determining what areas God has especially gifted you. As always, though, place far more emphasis on God's Word and submitting to the Lord's leading than you do on the results of a spiritual gift test.
Gifts of the Spirit - What Are the Gifts Used For?
The Apostle Paul indicated that the gifts of the Spirit are equally valid, but not equally valuable. Their value is determined by their worth to the church. In dealing with this matter, he used the analogy of the human body. All members of the body have functions, Paul declared, but some are more important than others (1 Corinthians 12:12-26). The service of each Christian should be in proportion to the gifts which he possesses (1 Corinthians 12-14). All believers, as members of the body of Christ, must be serving together in order for the body to be fully-functional. That is why a church needs pastors, teachers, helpers, servants, administrators, those with great faith, etc. All of the gifts of the Holy Spirit working together are needed to produce the full potential of the church. Since the gifts of the Spirit are gifts of grace, their use must be controlled by the rule of love - the greatest of all the gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 13).

The new ping pong table! Niiiiice.

Urgent Legislative Alert!
All Churches Are At Risk!

Committee Hearing – Rescheduled to January 27th at 10:30 am!

*Church Child Care Ministries Would Lose Freedom to Operate!*

Still Time To Contact Your State Representative!

House Bill 1036, authored by Representative Vanessa Summers, has been introduced in the 2010 General Assembly. If House Bill 1036 were to pass it would give the government control over church child care ministries and pave the way for government control over other church ministries involving children including Sunday school!

History Of Freedom For Churches!

Since the passage of legislation in 1979, churches have been free to have child care ministries without government control or interference. The freedom churches have had for over 30 years would change if House Bill 1036 becomes law!

House Bill 1036 – An Attempt To Control Your Church!

If House Bill 1036 passes, for the first time in over 30 years Indiana government would be able to tell a church:

» Who they could hire for their child care ministry!
» What education the workers in the child care ministry must have!
» How many children the church could have in the child care ministry!
The government would in effect be requiring the church to be licensed by the state if they want to have a child care ministry!

Next Step – Sunday School And Vacation Bible School!

If the state can regulate and control (license!) a church that has a child care ministry, then the next logical step would be to regulate and control churches that have other programs for children including:

» Sunday School
» Vacation Bible School
» Mothers’ Day Out Program
» Day Camp
» Summer Camp
» Christian Schools
» After School Programs
Churches should not be licensed, regulated or controlled by the government!

Immediate Action Required!

Step #1 Please call or email your State Representative immediately with the following message:

“Churches should not be regulated, controlled or licensed by the government. All church ministries including child care ministries should continue to be free! Please vote NO on House Bill 1036.”

House of Representatives: 317-232-9600 – or – 1-800-382-9842

*Please let us know what response you get from your State Representative.

Step #2 Come to the Committee Hearing on House Bill 1036 on Wednesday, January 27th at 10:30 am in Room 156A of the State House

Input needed

I need your input either by posting on here or you may email me with your thoughts. On our Website, we have a page that says "pictures". We don't have much on there, but was thinking a lot about all the pictures we take at our various functions and thought it would be nice to include those on that page. However, I want to emphasize that NO NAMES would be used, only pictures of people in our various functions participating. I was thinking about the program yesterday and how we could show things that go on at Hinkle. At first, we were reluctant to put faces on this page, but the more I think about it - how else can we show we have people involved in our services and activities. It isn't an empty building sitting on the hill! Let me know if this is ok with everyone and we will see to it that more pictures are posted. I've looked at some of the other Church websites, and they all show their congregation and youth activities in their picture pages. Carmel Friends is a good example of that along with Westfield.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this!

WTHR-TV CHANNEL 13 EYEWITNESS NEWS

Hello everyone! Just a quick note to let everyone know that we will be relying on Snow Team 13 to help spread the news if we ever need to cancel our Sunday morning worship time due to dangerous weather and road conditions. Hopefully, we won't be needing this service anytime soon, but, it's nice to know it's there if we need it.

Prayer needed

Shirley Gray just called me to let me know that Mildred (Beery) Wood's son Jim's wife was in an automobile accident yesterday while Jim was at the Colts game and was killed. Mildred was married to Shirley's Dad and has been through so much in the past few years. She has lost 2 husbands, her son Jack and now a daughter-in-law. Mildred was Paulette and I's 4th grade teacher in school, so we have known her for a long time. She and all the family need our prayers at this difficult time.

Yesterday

Was it just me or was anyone else touched by the presentation put on by the WYM Youth Cabinet? I thought that was one of the best things I have seen in a long time that had a strong message without words! I'm not sure there were many dry eyes in the place! It really made me think about how vulnerable we all are in this world we live in and HOW MUCH God loves us and wants us to be near to Him and Love Him. It made me realize that even when we stray, He is always in the background desiring us to come to Him. It's hard to fathom that kind of love He has for us! I hope they come up with something again and can come back! I think we all needed that "shot in the arm".

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this weekend a great success as we hosted this group. Katy told me she felt so much at home here at Hinkle and the people made all of them feel "just like family". That's what we are all about! I pray we can all be the figure dressed in white in the play always loving and luring others back into a loving relationship with Christ!

Amazing Evening!

Wow! What an amazing evening we had last night with all the youth from the Yearly Meeting and our youth mingling together along with all the adults enjoying a great time of fellowship and food. As of last count, we had 53 people in attendance. There is ping pong games, Wii on the new flat screen TV, foosball, and the card game, apples to apples. We are looking forward to hearing what the Youth Cabinet has in store for us today and also looking forward to the carry-in meal after services. The Family Fun night was a great success and this will be an on-going event each month. Dates and times will be announced in the near future. What a wonderful time for our young people to get excited about our Church and having a good safe place to enjoy time together! There is talk about having some of the Gaither Homecoming Videos showing on the new TV at one of our upcoming events. So, there is something for all age groups! I pray this will grow into a wonderful outreach for Hinkle beyond our congregation! Great job of planning Will - and thanks to Kelly for all the beautiful decorations. And Sharon and Denny - the popcorn machine was a big hit! I believe pictures were taken, so look for those on the blog in the near future.

After a few weeks in the hospital Carla, her husband, and her physicians have decided to end the chemo treatments.  Carla will be transferred to a hospice facility close to her home today.  Please continue to keep her and her family in your thoughts.

I posted last week or so to please pray for Carla. Please continue to pray for her. She lives in North Carolina. Carla works for the same company I do. If you want to go to her caringbridge page above it's very inspirational. She urges all women to get their mammograms. Thank You.

Prayers are needed

I received word this evening that Hubert Berry has had a minor stroke and was hospitalized until today. Many tests have been taken to find out what needs to be done to help Hubert. Please pray for him and Geneva as they deal with set back in their life.

Need your help!

The newly established Communications Committee met this evening and have a need for new Church Stationary. We would like input from you on developing a "Logo" to represent who we are as a Church to be put on our new Stationary. Please submit your ideas to anyone on the Committee. Those on the committee are: Heather Browning, Trish Butcher, Kelly Haemmerle, and Justin Forrestal.

Many exciting plans were discussed this evening to for this Committee to be the "voice" of Hinkle to the public. More plans and events to market Hinkle will be forthcoming, so look in the Sunday bulletin and the Blog for future details.

Family Fun Night & Sunday Services

Just wanted to remind everyone about the Family Fun Night this Saturday evening starting at 6:00 p.m.. This will be a time of interacting with the Western Yearly Meeting Youth Cabinet. There will be food, games, and just good old fellowship. This is open to ALL age groups. Let's show this group who we are! Bring a finger food to be enjoyed by everyone. There are at least 12 young people along with the Christian Education Director of Western Yearly Meeting who will be in attendance. Jacob and Marianne Isaacs have volunteered to stay overnight with this group to be available to help with any of their needs. Remember that they will be holding the Worship Service on Sunday and we will have a carry-in meal following Worship Services. We should be out and home before the Colts game!

UPDATE: A 32 inch flat screen TV has been donated to help us with Family Fun Night and future Movie Nights at the Church! It will be installed and hung on the north wall in the basement with an attached DVD player and VCR! What a wonderful gift and help to our Church. A Foosball table was also donated to add to the fun and is already at the Church.

You should also know that at our Tuesday Night Bible Study, the teens are meeting in a separate room and studying the Word together with Ty Martz leading the discussion. It is awesome to see our young people so excited about Bible Study! We had 26 in attendance last Tuesday and some of our regulars were not there! If you haven't been involved with this group, I pray you will consider coming on Tuesday night to join us. We are finishing the Book of Acts this next week, then will begin in Genesis. Will is doing a great job handing out questions that are thought provoking as we study the Word. And, of course, we always have great food!

Please pray for Don Perkins. He is having open heart surgery on Wednesday. He is my best friend's (since I was little) Dad. My friends name is Kelly and she has been praying since we were kids that her father would one day ask Jesus into his heart. So my prayer request is two fold. I know I've had a lot of prayer requests lately. Thank You. Bless you all.

Ministry in Haiti

A few years back, we at Hinkle supported the Mission in Haiti which was established by Jack Terry. They had established a Church and School to minister to these many needing people. Jack has travelled there extensively to oversee this ministry. Jack was the former Pastor of Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends Church, and founder and Pastor of Christ Community Church in Lamong (formerly Lamong Friends Church). I received an email from Jack this morning and I can only seem to post a part of it since it is so long, but if anyone would like to see the whole email, I'd be happy to forward it to you privately. I tried to copy and paste it to it's total form, but the blog wouldn't allow me to post that much information. I would love for us to pray about and consider helping him again with this urgent need. Or, you could do what you would like on a personal basis. I'll gather information on how to donate if anyone is interested in doing that. Here is Jack's email:

Good Morning to Everyone! Today is a day to pray, praise & petition for our precious people in Haiti. I am very sad to see the horrible devastation that has hit this poverty stricken island. I am, also, blessed to hear of the miracles that have happened and the people, organizations & churches that are volunteering to help Haiti in this hour of great need. As you may already know about our school-church (CCCWM) located in Pernier, near Puerto Prince. Our pastor Estanvil reported that all of the houses & buildings in the area toppled with the exception of our church-school and former Pastor Maxo Dejanis' house. That is a miracle. I wish to report that Radiant Life Church, located near Westfield, has offered to help financially with the very needy people in our area of Haiti. All of our teachers' homes were destroyed plus the homes of our students. These are some of the most precious children we have ever met. They are so very poor but they have great faith and love. The teachers are so dedicated and loving, also. Blessings to Radiant Life Church and Judy Rosenberger who was able to initiate this request. I heard this morning that the Jesus Film has volunteered to help across the Island plus a number of other organizations. Here is some of the latest reports: 1) 150 UN soldiers are trapped in the ruins of a collapsed building. 2)Tiny bodies of children lie in piles next to the ruins of a collapsed school. 3) Survivors are wandering the streets of Puerto Prince 4) The USA has promised to help Haiti in this hour of need. Please read Charlie Collins', our CCCWM Haiti Director, report from Jay, below. Let's pray for Revival & God's Mercy to move across this Island.

Dear Beloved,

The internet just came up. I'm not sure how long it will last, but thank you Jesus!

First, Taina and I are ok. most of our staff is ok, but there has been loss. Haiti is devestated. Markets, banks, houses, hotels are all collapsed. Death is everywhere. On the day of the earthquake, Ty and I were going to go to our favorite market. I complained of fatigue and opted out of going to Ty's shagrin. She wanted snacks. If we had gone, we would had died. That market collapsed and we would had been there. Our church roof collapsed on a bible school class and we lost 30, some of which I was very close to. I spent the better part of yesterday trying to dig out a few burried alive. We had not yet reached them when I just gave out. I had been working on about 2 hours sleep, so I had to go as we were waiting on a crane. The school sustained damage but repairable. Mostly security walls down, broken glass, computers broken ect. The church will need a rebuild. We're working on the possiblity of doing open air service on our land. hopefully we'll be able to gather the faithful, pray and encourage one another.

Our soccor field is a tent city. We will begin feeding today. I pray it doesn't create a riot and it is orderly. Food shipments will be a priority in the near future. At the moment I'm pretty sure the customs and the port are closed. We have heard of reports that a hospital ship and an aircraft carrier may be in today. Medical attention is a great need. Many have sent emails asking what you can do. Our immediate need is of course finance. As airport and other infastructure opens and we know we can buy food, we'll begin to bring those who want to come in...in.

Our greatest concern is fuel, food, and water and medical assitance to those in need. We have limited amount of all. We do not know when any of those items will be available. I'll do my best to stay in touch with all of you, but realize, we're pretty busy.. Phones are trying to come up, but I've tried to call Linda and still can't get out. Linda is state side and you can contact her at: 321-427-0966. My Haiti cell is 011-509-3454-7647. I'm leaving my stateside phone on...321-258-3049, However neither are working at the moment. You can try if you want.

We have taken pics but will have to send them another time.

We love you all.... I think I want to start saying and telling you that a lot now. Please pray for Haiti.

My Prayer Request

I just wanted to let you know that My Mom is doing much better. She is waiting for results of some tests. The doctor had prescribed her pain medication and she was only taking one pill a day. He told her to take it every 4 to 6 hours if needed. She was afraid of becoming dependent on it. He told her he would be the first to know if there was a problem and he didn't want her to worry about that, but to take the medicine and make herself comfortable. They think it may be gout, which can be very painful. So, thank you for supporting her with your prayers.

Youth Cabinet Road Show coming to Hinkle Creek on Sunday Jan 24th 10:30 AM

We invite you to join us in worship. This service was
designed around the gifts and the message these
young leaders felt led to bring to the Meetings in
Western Yearly Meeting. This group had a hard time
deciding what the broken and hurt people of this
Yearly Meeting needed to hear this year. They
agonized over what role God wanted them to play in
ministering here in WYM in the coming months.
In the end the idea of hope came through
as a strong and powerful message.
The hope that can only come through the basic
message of what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross.
We understand that this service may be different from
your normal worship service. We invite you to be
open to the healing power of Jesus’ Christ blood and
the movement of the Holy Spirit in this Meeting.
The words to the songs will be projected on the screen
and you are welcome to join us in musical worship
and in open worship as you feel comfortable.
Every element of this service was chosen for a
reason...chosen to bring the message God
has laid on our hearts for you!
May you find hope in the resurrection power of
Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!
~Katy Palmer, WYM Christian Ed. Director

Answered Prayers

We have had four people committ to helping in the Sunday School classrooms! Four! That is awesome!

Please Pray

Thank you for your prayers. My Sister's shingles are getting better which is great news. So thank You! I just spoke with my Mother on the phone, her name is Betty and she has been in pain for a week and can barely walk. Her left foot is swollen and she is going to have an x-ray done on it this afternoon. We thought it was neuropathy but now we just don't know.
Thank You so much,

A little humor..God loves the sound of laughter

A man: God, how much is a million dollars to you?
God: It is but a penny.
A man: God, how long is a million years to you?
God: It is but a second.
A man: God, could you please give me a penny?
God: Sure, just a second.

Weight Loss - Old Testament Style

The teacher in the bible class asked a woman to read from the Book of Numbers about the Israelites wandering in the desert.

"The Lord heard you when you wailed, "If only we had meat to eat!" she began. "Now the Lord will give you meat. You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, or ten or twenty days, but for a month until you loathe it."

The woman paused, looked up and said.... "Hey, isn't that the Atkins diet?"

The Rev. Billy Graham tells of a time early in his career when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy told him, Rev. Graham thanked him and said, “If you’ll come to the Baptist church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to Heaven.”“I don’t think I’ll be there,” the boy said. “You don’t even know your way to the post office

A little boy was kneeling beside his bed with his mother and grandmother and softly saying his prayers, "Dear God, please bless Mummy and Daddy and all the family and please give me a good night's sleep."Suddenly he looked up and shouted, "And don't forget to give me a bicycle for my birthday!!""There is no need to shout like that," said his mother. "God isn't deaf.""No," said the little boy, "but Grandma is."

Food Pantry

Following is the email sent out about the Food Pantry needs. Thought you all might be interested in the latest with them. Let's not forget about the many needs they have.

FriendsWelcome to winter! Today was our first day to reopen since Christmas. 68 brave guests including 3 new ones came in today. We were blessed by someone who was plowing the Eagles parking lot in front of the pantry stopping by and saying, "If I remember correctly today is the day the pantry is open." and offering to plow the parking lot for us. God provides all of our needs! Thank you for all of the food donations. Each family was given 2 bags of groceries. Hinkle Creek Friends Church gave us a large cash donation that we were able to purchase laundry soap, personal hygiene products and cereal with. They also donated several fleece blankets for us to donate. It is wonderful to see different bodies of Christ working together for a common cause. This week we are especially in need of boxes of cereal, pancake mix, syrup, dish soap, shampoo, kleenex, toilet paper, and juices. Volunteer opportunities that we are in need of are someone to be a point person for the kids room one Thursday a month from 3-6. We also need volunteers for shopping, set-up help, clean-up help, stocking on Tuesdays between 10-2 and Thursdays for food distribution from 3:30-6. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please let me know. It is a great way to lend a hand and you will be as blessed as those are that you are helping.God Bless,Kim

Bible Study Tonight

I guess I'm the official poster on the food agenda! Wonder why that is???? Anyway, I have been informed that we are having meat loaf, mashed potatoes, a turkey casserole, salad, fruit punch, and dessert. Sounds like good comfort food to me!!!! I do hope someone will have sympathy for me on the mashed potatoes and make a little gravy???? I LOVE gravy on my mashed potatoes. Hint! Hint! Guess you are gonna get the "Hints" if I'm asked to post what food we are having! LOL! Anything else to go along with that will be nice. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight!

Say a little prayer

My Sister, Christy just found out she has the shingles. Please help me pray that it's a mild case. I love her so and don't want her to suffer.
Thank you.

Our Day!

I got up early this morning and have had a full heart thinking back over the 37 years that Paulette and I have been married. We were married on the evening of January 5th, at 6:30 p.m. at Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends Church. During the ceremony, I sang the song "Hawiian Wedding Song" to Paulette and at the end, she answered me in song as well as the Church Bell rang in the background. Our reception was held at the Sheridan Community Center and following that, we took off to a "paid for" Honeymoom suite at the Executive Inn in Louisville, Ky. That was the coldest room I've ever stayed in! The bed was round and we both found it difficult to sleep. Partly because we were so tired from the wedding! We took off the next morning and headed to Florida where we stayed for a week in 70 degree weather. It was so nice! I remember how we decided to get up early one morning and go to the beach to look for shells that had washed up through the night. It was still dark, but we sat in the car and waited for the break of day to start our venture. Suddenly, a flashlight shone in our window and it was the police pecking on the window and wondering what mischief we were up to. We explained why we were there and after a look of disbelief, he left us alone. I think we found one shell that morning!

We came home to our first home which was a mobile home I had rented situated on the property where we now live! The people who lived in the house where we live now is now my step mother, Peggy. They had just built this house in 1969 and the mobile home was put there for her mother. Her mother married and moved away, so I was able to rent it for $75.00 a month! After 37 years, we have lived in 13 houses and who would have known back then that we would one day be living on the same property where we started housekeeping!

God has blessed our marriage over the years. We have had some storms, losing 5 babies before birth, but God saw to it that we could finally raise two wonderful children who we love with all our heart. There have been times of sickness, health, richer and poorer - just like the vows say, be we have stood firm through it all.

It's funny how things change as you get older. I used to look forward to taking Paulette out for a nice evening dinner on our Anniversary, but today we find ourselves stuck at home waiting on the FedEx truck to arrive with my medication, then rather than a steak dinner - we will be joining our Church Family for a wonderful meal of meatloaf, turkey casserole, mashed potatoes, salad, and dessert! What could be better!

I just wanted to write down my little memory lane this morning as I look back over the years and pray that God will allow us to continue on for many years to come. Our life isn't perfect by any means, but we can still laugh, love, and work through anything that comes our way. As I preached about Sunday - we don't know what "Jordans" we will have to cross in this next year, but God has never let us down yet in finding a way to cross and I don't suppose He will let us down now.

For those of you who struggle in your marriage, just remember that life can be a bed of roses, but you will run into a thorn now and then that brings you back to reality. Don't let the thorns keep you from striving to keep loving and working through it no matter what comes in your path. So many people just give up and don't even want to try. If we had that attitude in our early years, we would have divorced long ago! But, when we married, it was for life. I think that's the message young people don't get these days.

Well, I've bored you all long enough. Just had to reflect this morning somewhere, and thought this was a good place to do it.

See you all tonight at Bible Study!

Today's Message

Thank you Bob. Today's message was beautiful and much needed for my soul. Its amazing how blessed you are and intune with God.

Your message has been on my mind all day.

Submission is something we can do, something we control. In surrender, we make the conscious choice to let go of that control, but the actual surrender is something only God can do. Another gift from the Father to His children.
When we submit, we "give in," keeping the focus on ourselves.
When we surrender, we "give up," putting the focus where it belongs: on God. But it isn't giving up in the way we normally define it. The action is more like "giving over." In love. It is offered to us in love, by Love, for love. And we accept it the same way: in love, for love, out of love.
Our best example is Jesus. While here on earth, He didn't just submit, He surrendered. He handed Himself over to others, He emptied Himself completely. Out of the same motivation He came to Earth in the first place: love.

Surrendered Lives is dedicated to helping people get into a position so that God can grant them the gift of giving up, of surrendering their lives to Him.
Our ministry is one of sharing. We share the message of Christ, of course. And we strive to share His love. But we also work hard to share one of the main benefits of His message and His love: the true hope that only Jesus can provide.
It's the hope that we don't have to hurt deep down inside, we don't have to worry, don't have to be angry, or scared, or sad. We can have an inner joy, complete peace, and total serenity now, here on earth. That is the Gospel. But we must first surrender ourselves and our desire for joy, peace, and serenity to God. Lord help me to accept your will and to accept this gift.

This song kept coming to mind this morning during service:

All to Jesus I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!
