The Way of a Tree

You can’t contain me within these walls
Time is a waste, it always stalls
Barricades do me no good
I will always expand beyond what I should

I will grow to unimaginable heights
I will win and lose many fights
Try not to hover over me
So that I can view what I want to see

I want to help the world heal
To spread true emotions so we can all feel
I want to save those that are in need
I want to be able to plant my seed

Many times will I fail
But from my heart I’ll leave a trail
It will lead to something you lack
And after so long I will grow back

You can knock me down if you want
You can sit there and tease or taunt
But through everything I will be brave
Doing what I can for those that I save

I will show people what I can do
And no matter what I will pull through
Becoming even stronger than before
From all of the lessons that I have in store

My roots are planted in the ground
My words come with a peaceful sound
You can love me or hate me if you’d like
But either way, my love will strike
