This Beautiful Church

The world is full of harsh ways

But this church is my safe place

The peace here always stays

Along with the smile on my face

With everything we say and do

The love we have will always show

This church was blessed with God’s grace

But also with each person that sits before me

Last Evening

Good morning everyone! I don't know about you, but I was just blown away with the great evening we had with the Concert last night! I had heard Woody perform before, but he and his lovely wife Vonnie really out did themselves for us! Anyone who missed that really lost out on a wonderful evening. I was so impressed with this great couple who were so down to earth, humble, and so talented. In my private conversations with them, they said they wish our Church was 30 miles closer to them as they would certainly be attending Hinkle Creek Friends! I invited them to come and worship with us anytime they wanted and our Church could serve as a quiet retreat from their busy lives and we wouldn't even ask them to do anything - just come and be a part of our Church Family. They genuinely appreciate that invitation and asked what time our services started. People of that caliber need to be able to come to a "safe place" where they can just get off the world for a while and enjoy all that we do. I want us to be their "new friends" and hopefully they will come soon and join us. Thank you to everyone who helped to contribute both financially and with desserts to make it such a successful evening! Some people who reserved tickets didn't make it, so we fell about $120.00 short of our sales, but what a small amount for our Church to pay for such a wonderful outreach and wonderful concert. Thank you to Jeff and Mike for sharing their beautiful gifts of music to add so much to the evening! I felt like a proud parent having them both bring such beautiful music! Thank you Kelly for engineering all of this for us. You did an outstanding job of pulling it all off!!! Hopefully we can have them back again someday and we will have a larger attendance. Woke up this morning with my head just full of the memories from last evening and had to put it in writing! Forgive me for rambling! LOL!

What has the Lord done for you?

Just a quick reminder that we are going to have a "Testimony" service tomorrow! Seems like I do all the talking and I would love to hear from all of you on how God has blessed you recently. With all of the time limits for tomorrow, I thought this would be a good Sunday for all of you to minister to one another! There are times I need to be fed too, and what a great opportunity for me to be ministered to by all of you! So, pray about that and be prepared to come and share with your Church Family the good things that God has done for you!

This is Post # 995. So, in five more posts we will have reached the 1,000 mark. 

The very first post was on May 14, 2009. So, that averages out to around 70 posts a month. 

We have about twenty subscribers and that is only one fourth of our usual Sunday attendance number. 

Maybe some people don't access the internet but I bet some do but they just haven't been invited.

Earlham College's president announces retirement

Richmond - Earlham College President Douglas Bennett has decided to step down next year after leading the school since 1997.

The 64-year-old Bennett announced Wednesday he would retire at the end of June 2011, saying it was time to pass the job on to someone else. He said that as a Quaker it has been a perfect job for him to lead the Quaker-affiliated college in Richmond.

Bennett helped organize a dozen college presidents in 2007 for a protest of the U.S. News & World Report college rankings because they said the process mislead prospective students and encouraged gamesmanship.

Earlham trustees chairwoman Deborah Hull says Bennett has increased the national visibility of the 1,100-student college and helped it raise record amounts of money for its capital campaign.

Ministry & Counsel, Fellowship Breakfast, Monthly Meeting

It's a busy week here at Hinkle Creek Friends!

Ministry and Counsel will meet this Thursday night August 5 at 6:30. 

Sunday August 8 is our Fellowship Breakfast and following our Worship Service is the Monthly Meeting and then Music Night that evening at 5:00 featuring Woody and Vonnie Wright, Jeff VanWinkle and Mike Haemmerle.

Please remember to keep Hinkle in your prayers as we move through this week and remember our prayer list too.

Concert Goodies!

PLEASE don't forget to help Sharon out with desserts for Sunday night! It sounds like we are going to have a full house and possibly overflowing! So, all the help in this area you can would be GREATLY appreciated. Sharon announced Sunday that you could bring any type of dessert you would like. PASS THE WORD!!!

Hello Everyone!

Just a reminder that the Woody Wright concert is this coming Sunday at 5:00. 

We are all so excited to have Woody and Vonnie come and perform for us and I want to thank everyone at Hinkle for being so supportive of this Music Night event. 

A very special thank you to Jeff VanWinkle and Mike Haemmerle for sharing their considerable gifts with us on this special night as well. We all love you both so much and appreciate the music and inspiration you bring into our lives.

Bible Study Food

I know it's a little late to let you know, but Paulette is bringing taco soup and sliced cucumbers/onions like she has brought before. There is unsweetened tea I just bought Sunday, and our son Chris is bringing sweet tea. As always, there will be decaf coffee.
