I have recently began to question, "Why should we pledge to flag?" Most people tell me it is because we live in America and should always stand with the country. I disagree.
I don't like the idea of pledging my allegiance to this country which has became as good as anti-christian. Also doesn't the Bible tell us not to have any other gods before Jesus? Well, if we pledge our allediance to this ant-christian country, aren't we acting like it is our god? I fell that if the American people want to pledge to what America was founded on then we should pray to the Christian flag and the Bible.
I do not mean to hurt anyone's feelings. but I just wanted to get that point accross.

I felt like I needed to respond to this Jaxon. I hear where you are coming from, but for me, I view the flag of the United States and my allegience to it much different. I look at it as a representation of our freedom to say what we think (just as you have), worship as we wish, and many other freedoms that so many countried do not have. When I pledge my allegience to the flag, I'm thinking of my days of serving in the military and how proud I was and am to be an American. I think of all of those who fought and lost their life to defend those freedoms we enjoy. I guess I don't view pledging to the flag as any form or sort of worship or taking the place of the cross, the Word, or Jesus Christ. I just see that as a symbol that stands for my right to have to Word in my home, Worship Christ as I do, and speak as I wish. So, although I hear what you are saying, I have to say that I have a different view of it and it truly does move me when I express my pledge to this great country we live in. Yes, you are right. It is slowly deteriorating in the area of being a Christian Nation, but all the more important we stand behind the voice of freedom so those of us who are Christian can continue to do what we love. I hope this doesn't offend you in anyway. I think it's great we can all express our beliefs and opinions and that, to me, is what is behind the flag of the United States of American. If I had to serve and defend our freedoms, I would do it again.
Sorry for the typo errors on my comment. Guess I should proof read before I hit "publish post"!
I can see what your point of view is, but I do not agree. The Bible tells us not to have idols, and if we pledge to it and love it, aren't we idolizing the flag? Isn't that against our beliefs? I think it is.
Also, we may have freedoms now, but what about in a few years or even months? There has already been people arrested for saying "Gid Bless You" and for telling gays about Jesus. That lady was met at work the next day with 2 police officers, 1 lawyer, and her boss.
Are you sure you would want to serve again? The constitution says to protect it against foreign and domestic enemies. If the Nation becomes communistic or socialistic are you sure that you would stand for that? I wouldn't.
I do not mean to insult you, but I am expressing my beliefs.
There is a difference in worshipping(or idolizing) and pledging to the flag. When we pledge, we are submitting ourselves in preserving one nation under God. Yes, our country does have its weak points, but we need to overlook our weaknesses and press on.
It's just like when you signed up to attend Sheridan Christain Academy, Jaxon. You pledged to obey the rules the best you can. (inside of God's will, of course) You don't idolize the school, you just try to work with it and preserve it. Personally Jaxon, I would think harder on what you are going to say before you say it, rather than say it and regret it later.
Why would I regret the truth? I believe that this country is almost worthless. The Government has prevented many people from ignoring our weak points, including myself.
One good example is of a lady that told a gay about Jesus, and was met by 2 cops, 1 lawyer, and her boss. That is when the dovernment has gone past their limits and violated the Bible.
What does symbol mean:
Something that represents or suggests something else. Symbols often take the form of words, visual images, or gestures that are used to convey ideas and beliefs. All human cultures use symbols to express the underlying structure of their social systems, to represent ideal cultural characteristics, such as beauty, and to ensure that the culture is passed on to new generations. Symbolic relationships are learned rather than biologically or naturally determined, and each culture has its own symbols.
My street sign represents where my home is but I don't idolize it. But I am excited to see it after a long day away.
My pillow is a sign of a place I can lay my head. But its not an idol.
My wedding ring is a sign of my vows that I took. But its not my idol.
A picture of the church is a reminder of my place I call a place of worship. But it doesn't make it an idol.
Signs and symbols are everywhere for every nation under God. Its a way we find direction in our lives. Without symbols and signs we would be lost.
Anything can become a sin if you choose to make that a sin. If you choose to worship anything above God then you are breaking the commandments. He ask that we put him first in everything. Signs or symbols you place in your life as reminders or ways to be thankful are just another layer of yourself.
The world will show us sin every single day. There has been news events and firings for people believing in their truths for years. God created this ONE world in six days. He is not a respecter of race or people. The day when HE will come again is very close and that alone the Bible tells us that the world will get worse. Its our place to LOVE and share the word of God. Not judge and fall in the frivious things that take our focus from him. That could be your idol.
Is God first in your life.
Are you letting your thoughts be your idol and get in the way of your path?
I served in two branches of the Military ,and yes I would do it again if it meant freedom for those I love. I wasn't drafted ,I enlisted both times and if not being so old now ,I surely would do it again. My freedom means that I can worship as I see fit and speak as I see fit , but I surely wouldn't want to offend anyone with what I had to say.
If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American where as least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A
My country tis of thee sweet land of liberty of thee I sing ,land where my Fathers dies land of thy pilgrams pride ,from every
mountain side let freedom ring. When you are running down my country son ,you're walking on the fighting side of me . We have the right of freedom of speech and Religion .Think of all the other countries that don't have that. How would you like living in one of those? If you were called to arms today ,would you go ? Would you fight for this country ? Think about it Jaxon.our fore Fathers fought and died so that you can speak your mind , So is that not freedom ? I don't want it to sound like I am running you down but you need to think about what this country stands for. FREEDOM !!!!!
