On November 9th at 7:00 p.m. is the Hinkle Creek Friends Cemetery Association Meeting in the basement at Hinkle. That happens to be Jay Hiatt's 95th birthday!!!! That is quite an accomplishment and should be recognized and celebrated. I realize it would make it sort of late for some, but since that is his actual birthday and he will already be at the Church for that meeting, do you think it would be nice if we surprised him around 8:00 p.m. with some cake, punch, and a card shower to celebrate that special day??? What an opportunity to have him right where we want him on his birthday!!! Post some comments and let me know what you think or email me with your thoughts and perhaps we can put something together for him. I know we don't that for everyone, but 95 years is certainly something to celebrate and who better to do it with than his Church Family!! We will have some there already for Bible Study since it is on a Tuesday evening, so it sounds perfect to me. Tell me what you think.

find a penny pick it up
Someone (Annette)sent me an e-mail the other day. It was about a man who always picked up pennies just to read the inscription IN GOD WE TRUST on the back as a reminder to him of who’s in charge. As I was reading the e-mail my phone rang. The name of the company calling was HALFPENNY TECHNOLOGIES. I almost laughed out loud. But then I began wondering…Have I been putting all of my trust in God? Is my relationship with God consistent? Or, am I available to him only when it’s convenient for me? I was reminded that in order to understand God better I must continue to study his Word. Have you ever read a part of the Bible you’ve read before but you could never understand it and then all of a sudden it makes perfect sense? Breakthroughs like these feel like wisdom and joy and peace all wrapped into one! I don’t want to ever miss a chance to heed Gods call. I frequently tell God that I’m ready to know more about his plan for my life. I believe his silence means that while he’s glad I think I’m ready, He still knows better. I really do feel that God is preparing me for something. I think that is a natural feeling for any Christian to have. It’s like the thirst for Gods love that we so often hear about. 37On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38Whoever believes in me, as[a] the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." John 7:37-38 The transcending power of Gods love is so awesome! Sharing God’s love with others is such a beautiful experience and I hope he will let me do much more of that in my lifetime. His mysterious nature only compels me onward. I have every intention of following the path he’s laid before me. As my trust in God and my knowledge of his Word grows I know I can make great strides. I know that miracles happen when we welcome Jesus into our hearts even a just a little bit. Imagine what giving him all of our hearts can accomplish
TONIGHT
Let's all remember to come to the Clearness Committee Meeting at Hinkle beginning at 6:30 p.m. Some of us are arriving around 5:30 to pray before this session begins. Anyone is welcome to come ahead of time to pray. We will be praying that all of this goes smoothly and cordial and that God's Will is done through this process. If you can't attend, please be in prayer during this time frame for the future of Hinkle Creek Friends.

Clearness Committee
The Executive Committee of Western Yearly has scheduled a Clearness Meeting with us to be held this coming Wednesday, October 27th, at 6:30 p.m. in the basement at Hinkle Creek. I would like to urge all members to be present at this meeting if at all possible. Once they feel clear of our decision to withdraw from Western Yearly Meeting, then they will meet again on November 13th to draft their minute to be sent to the November 20th Administrative Counsel Meeting recommending the body approve our withdrawal. This is a very important step in this process and is moving much faster than I thought according to the Faith and Practice. On Sunday, following the services, I would like to have a short informational meeting with the membership to explain the Clearness Committee so we are all on the same page and understand what to expect in this meeting. If you can attend both meetings, it would be greatly appreciated. If you can't stay after Church, it would still be helpful for you to attend the meeting on Wednesday. I'd like to ask the Bible Study group to help after our study by tearing down the tables and setting up chairs in preparation for this meeting.

Newsletter ~November
Hello to all!
If anyone has anything they would like to put in the Hinkle Creek Friends Newsletter for November please send your submissions to
haemmertime1@aol.com
THANK YOU!!!
Another repost from last November
Had a request to post Paulette's cranberry recipe she made Sunday at the Homecoming. This was my mother's recipe that she made every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.
CRANBERRY HOLIDAY SALAD
2 - oranges
2 - apples
1 qt. - cranberries
3 cups of sugar
1/2 cup of chopped celery
2 boxes respberry or cherry jello or one of each (only use 1 cup of water per package)
1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
Grind oranges, apples and cranberries. Do no peel. Combine with the 3 cu. sugar, let stand until sugar is dissolved.
After jello has cooled down a bit, add nuts, celery, and stir in rest of ingredients. Cover & place in gridge to set up.
Note: You can add 1 can crushed pineapple to mixture, but will have to add extra jello
What I made for Homecoming Sunday had the addition of pineapple in it.
Enjoy!

JEFF DAVIS PIE (named after President Jefferson Davis and claimed this was his favorite pie)
5 - eggs
3 cups of sugar
1/2 cup of butter (not margarine)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tall can of milnot or carnation milk (12 oz.)
Mix well, pour into 2 unbaked pie crusts, bake slow for 1 hour. Bake 15 minutes at 325, then turn down to 300 and bake until done.
Note: The above is the orginal recipe. Our family added shredded coconut from the bag or can - enough to totally cover each pie, then dunk under with a fork so that when done baking the coconut is slightly toasted.

Rock Of Ages
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure;
Save from wrath and make me pure.
Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to the cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee

In all of your circumstances,
Look for God’s blessing.
Look for His joy
And His love everlasting.
Seek out God’s goodness
In a world of tears and sorrow.
Seek out His hope
In the dawn of tomorrow.
Let His peace fill your heart,
Let His hand and word guide you.
Know that you are never alone
For He always walks beside you.
Let His love be your strength,
His trustworthiness your shield.
Be courageous as He goes before you,
His victory to yield.
Walk forward in faith,
Let the Lord work His ways.
His unfailing love is with you
Look for God’s blessing.
Look for His joy
And His love everlasting.

Heather
Heather told us to be there at 11:00 this morning and we got there about 10 minutes until 11:00 and they were taking her in early to surgery! So, we got there just in time to have prayer with her before she went. The surgery was a complete success, but as we left she was having a lot of issues with pain, so we came home having Tim to tell her that we would all be praying for her. We are glad that is behind her and she can begin to recover. They did say she might get to come home in a couple of days.
mark your calendars!

Need Your Input
Good morning everyone. I emailed several of you yesterday, but haven't heard back from most of you so thought I'd post on here and ask if you would either email me or comment on here. I received a call from the Executive Committee of Western Yearly Meeting wanting to set a "Clearness Committee" meeting with us as soon as possible. They are having their next Executive Committee meeting on the 13th of November and they need to meet with us before then concerning our withdrawal from the Yearly Meeting. It appears that Wednesday evening the 27th at 6:30 is looking like a good time to meet with them. Depending on how many of you can attend, we would like to set up chairs and meet in the basement at Hinkle. I need to get back with them as soon as I have a sense of when everyone can meet. Please let me know so I can set this up. As I understand it, this meeting must take place so they can formulate their minute to the Administrative Counsel to be presented at their meeting on the 20th of November so they can approve our withdrawal. This is a VERY important meeting for the membership of Hinkle Creek Friends so that we can move forward. In addition, I'd like to have a short "informational" meeting immediately following services this Sunday to explain what the "Clearness Committee" is all about and enable us to be prepared on what to expect at this meeting. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF THIS DATE AND TIME IS ACCEPTABLE TO YOU.
Thank you!

MISC.
Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that Brian Paddack's surgery went well this morning. They did a new proceedure and was able to go through a vein in his groin and down through his throat to do the repair on his heart without having to cut him open! The doctor said it was a complete success and he could probably go home in the next day or so. Now, we need to concentrate our prayers for Heather and her surgery tomorrow which takes place at noon! I will post on here tomorrow evening after her surgery to let you all know how things went.
For Bible Study tomorrow night - Paulette is making chili soup. So, you can bring something to go along with that if you like. Seems like good weather for chili along with me being a bit selfish and getting along best with soup these days! LOL!
More information will be coming soon on the building. The gentleman who is going to do the work on the structure says he can start in two weeks. Details will need to be worked out, but we do know that we have to get the attic completely cleaned out (sucked out with a vacuum truck) and he says the whole ceiling has to come down and expose the attic so they can do work from beneath to make it strong. So, things are beginning to move toward getting our Meeting House put back together! Continue to pray as the Lord leads us through this period of time and decisions.

THANK-YOU!
Paulette and I spent the late afternoon looking through all of the nice cards you left behind at Church today for us and how we were moved by all of the love you demonstrated through your nice words in each one. We love all of you so much too! I think every card mentioned how you loved us, so I respond back with equal feelings! You are such a wonderful congregation and I can truly say you are our Friends! I feel so blessed to be serving all of you and pray we will have many more years together. Again, thank you for your love and support in so many ways.

Material possessions, winning scores, and great reputations are meaningless in the eyes of the Lord, because He knows what we really are and that is all that matters.

When Faith Endures
I will not doubt, I will not fear; God's love and strength are always near.
His promised gift helps me to find an inner strength and piece of mind.
I give the Father willingly, my trust, my prayers, humility.
His Spirit guides; his love assures that fear departs when faith endures.

Absolutely Beautiful - Native American Prayer
Native American Prayer
Oh, Great Spirit
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear me, I am small and weak,
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold
the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have
made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things
you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have
hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my Spirit may come to you without shame.

THIS SUNDAY
All of you who went to Family camp - WEAR YOUR QUAKER HAVEN T-SHIRTS this Sunday! There will be a nice slide show presentation about our Camp experience! If any of you men have hats - that would add to the outfit! PASS THE WORD AROUND!
Interview by Tori Taff
A conversation with Mark Lowry almost always ends up turning into a conversation about the Bible—I have rarely met anyone who loves Scripture more than Mark! He can quote chapter and verse from more than one translation, and especially enjoys it when the discussion gets lively. So where did his passion for the word of God come from?
“Well, words are my life,” Mark explains to me. “I work with words for a living, I speak them and I write them. Words are what I use to understand things, that’s how I figure things out. I’m a talk-thinker— I don’t even know what I’m thinking until I hear myself say it! And the words in the Bible are the most powerful ones of all. God spoke the world into existence with His words. They’re like a crimson thread that has run from eternity to eternity. And though that thread has passed through the hands of humans, the truth of His word has remained.”
He continues, “My parents taught me the Bible, they handed me the word of God, but they got their fingerprints all over it. That’s why we have to read it for ourselves; we need to wipe other people’s fingerprints off and let it become real to each of us as individuals. I know some people like to argue about whether every story in the Bible is literally true or not, but to me it’s irrelevant. What’s relevant is the truth behind the story being told—that’s the crimson thread. Did a whale literally swallow Jonah? The truth of that story is about obeying God, it isn’t about a whale! Arguing about Scripture is child’s play, and I say let the children play if they want. That’s focusing on the word instead of on THE Word, and the Bible itself says in John 1 who THE Word is. If the Bible doesn’t lay you in the lap of Jesus, you’re not letting it do its job! As my friend Stan Mitchell says, ‘I love the Bible too much to worship it.’ ”
Mark sums it up this way: “I believe in the Big Bang Theory—God spoke the word and BANG! There it was! We’re all an extension of the song He sang on creation morning. We’re all on different paths but we’re all trying to get to the same place, which is to become more and more Christ-like. I believe God is doing that in me… Sometimes I don’t see it much, but I believe He’s doing it!”

We are sending pictures and cards to a young girl in Rwanda named Kemirembe. Mike and I sponser Kemirembe through the Food for the Hungry Program. I wanted to share her story with the children at Children's Church. We are all looking forward to getting mail from her in return. The class was excited to hear about her life in Rwanda and if you look real close in the last picture you can see Kemirembe's picture on the table.
Great is Thy faithfulness (Hymn) Thomas Obedih Chisholm 1923
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.
Refrain
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

William Cowper 1774 God Moves in a Mysterious Way (Hymn)
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.
Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

But sweet will be the flower.
