I think he heard someone say "We have no food for bible study tonight"

"And this wise man asked me to stop. He said, Stop
asking God to
bless what you're doing. Get involved in what God is doing -- because
it's already blessed." Bono

"But I'd be in big trouble if Karma was going to finally be my judge. I'd be in deep s---. It doesn't excuse my mistakes, but I'm holding out for Grace." Bono

"At a certain point, I just felt, you know, God is not
looking for alms, God is looking for action." Bono

‎"If I could put it simply, I would say that I believe
there's a
force of love and logic in the world, a force of love and logic behind
the universe. And I believe in the poetic genius of a creator who would
choose to express such unfathomable power as a child born in straw
...poverty"; i.e., the story of Christ makes sense to me." Bono

BE KIND

1. Speak gently, always being positive and lifting others.
2. Help people, with no thought of reward.
3. Overlook others' mistakes; have great patience with imperfections.
4. Forgive easily and quickly.
5. Put the needs and desires of others before your own.
6. Share the good things in your life freely.
7. Be genuinely interested in the welfare of others.
8. Give of yourself--especially your time.
9. Be polite and courteous.
10. Share another's burden.
11. Listen patiently.
12. Set a good example.
13. Resist the urge to talk about others unkindly.
14. Treat others the way you'd like to be treated.
15. Be fair and honest at all times.
16. Try to love people unconditionally.

Let's talk about Childrens Church!

Hello,

Well, our Christian Education meeting on Tuesday evening resulted in some changes to our Childrens Church program. We are all excited about these changes and want to share them with everyone.

First of all, we moved the nursery into the smaller classroom downstairs. Shirley Gray, Heather Browning and Melanie Martz are the teachers for the nursery.

Secondly, we combined the other two classes (Elementary) and moved them into the larger group of rooms. Dee Prater, Cynthia Rodriguez, Tarran Day and Kelly Haemmerle will be working with this group.Since this is a larger group, we are planning on having two teachers working in this room.

So, please come downstairs on Sunday and look around. I think the children will like their new rooms. Thank you to everyone for your support. Working with these kids is such a delight!

CD'S

I apologize that I have been slow in getting the CD's copied from the services the last two Sundays. They are done and at the Church if anyone missed services the last two weeks and would like to take one. The kid's testimonies from Camp came across very good from last Sunday if any of you parents would like one for a keepsake. If there aren't enough, let me know and I can make more.

Help with a picture....

Does anyone have a a group picture of the Teen campers that went to Quaker Haven?
I have a church bulletin with a group picture, but I was hoping to get an actual copy of a the picture or something similar. I just need something that is as clear as possible.
It's for a project, so if you have a good picture, please let me know.

Thanks a bunch, Pat

Habits

In keeping up with my thoughts on coming to Church and Sunday School, I ran across this definition of creating a habit. Afterall, that is what it takes to be dedicated to coming to Church and Sunday School. It's creating a habit and making it a priority in our lives. Just thought I'd share what I found below:

Question: How Do I Form a Good Habit?
Answer: Making a good habit is the same as making a bad habit. The brain is amoral when it comes to habits. It does not care if it is good or bad. All it knows is that the habit action is routinely performed so it would benefit from an improved neurological pathway for more efficient processing.
Creating a habit is easy. And that can cause you a lot of problems. Since habits form so easily, you need to make sure you are doing “good” things when you create it.

To form a habit all you need to do is repeat the activity. With enough repetitions it becomes a habit. A habit can be formed in as little as 10 days, depending on the amount of repetition. The more you do it after the habit is formed, the more reinforcement you give to that habit and the stronger it becomes.

You can make the process easier if the habit activity has some good rewards associated to it. A good work out is often rewarded with endorphins; a good study session gets you a better grade. But the reward does not make it a habit. That comes with repetition and the neurological pathway.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL!!!!

This Sunday will be the last Sunday for Quaker Classes. Following that, I want to continue by trying to "kick-start" our Adult Sunday School Class. I will be starting to do the study on the "Purpose Driven Life". This is a great time to get back to Sunday School and be a part of this class. Following the Purpose Driven Life series, we will have a curriculum this fall to Study the Word. So, if you haven't been to Adult Sunday School in a long time - please plan to start! I will be teaching this class and hoping that we can build it into a wonderful group again. Pass the word around and see if you can get someone to join you! I'm looking forward to teaching this class again and enjoying the fellowship with all of you! If you've been to my class in the past, you will know that I do a lot of life application and everyone is free to express and participate. You know me - we will have coffee and if anyone wants to bring something to munch on or drink besides coffee, you are welcome to do that. I want it to be a relaxed time of learning together. I would appreciate your support in this endeavor to build this class again.

Last Sunday

Our Meeting on Sunday was awesome! I just wanted to mention that because I just keep thinking about it. All of those sweet kids standing up there like that made such an impact on me. I love how they feel so comfortable around everyone! And they are all so precious. At youth group one evening we all talked about our hopes and dreams for the future. It was then that I understood how much potential these kids have. They are all so thoughtful and sincere. And mature! We are all so blessed to have them in our lives!

Christian Ed Meeting

Tonight, after Bible tsudy we are having a Christian Ed meeting! So, if you are on this committee or have a desire to contribute to this Ministry please come this evening. Bible Study begins at 6:30.

My Prayer Day

Good morning Friends. I had a nice day yesterday (and what beautiful weather) to spend time with the Lord in Prayer. Obviously I prayed about the Western Yearly Meeting Service on Friday morning, but I also prayed for all of you! As I was meditating, I was thinking about how many people were missing on Sunday and have been the past few Sundays. I realize it's summer and people have plans, but I was just wondering if any of you have been concerned about that too? Was someone missing that normally sits close to you? Did you think to give them a call or a friendly email or card and see if they were ok? As I contemplated that, I began to count those who were missing and do you realize that if everyone would show up on one Sunday, we would have close to 90 people in attendance? I'd just love to see our Church filled with everyone excited to be there. So, I put out this challenge and ask if you could make a special effort to attend this Sunday and call someone who wasn't there and pass the word! You know, if we could get 100 attending one Sunday, I might just think up some thing I'd do if you met that challenge. Should I let my hair grow, dye it red, dress up in bib overalls at the pulpit, climb up on the rooftop and preach from there? LOL! I'll meet the challenge if you will!

In all sincerety, it is important that we put God first as we start out our week. Sort of like tithing the 10% of our income - why not give God 10% of our time and come together and worship HIM! Before I die, I'd love to see our pews filled with people anxious to hear the Word of God!

I pray for all of you each week and I especially love it when I have that down time when I can do that in a special way. This week's time was special and I felt so much love toward you all and appreciate everything that you do to make Hinkle Creek Friends the success and outreach that it is today. I don't know when I've seen such harmony in a group of people and a group who loves one another like all of you do. You bless me SO MUCH! Thank you!

Thank you

As you all know my little sisters spent last week with me. I had the pleasure of bringing them to church last Sunday. Thank you all for the love and kindness you shared with them. They have shared with my family that one of the highlights of the past week was visiting my church. You all make me so proud to call Hinkle Creek Friends my church and you all my family of God. I also wanted to share that during the amazing week we recieved some details about our life that was a surprise and confusing at the same time. We have found out that we have an older brother that is about 2yrs older then me. And that our grandmother that we were told had passed was actually still alive in a nursey care home with Alzehimers. My sisters and I had the pleasure of locating our grandmother and visiting her. She didn't know us but we know in our hearts that it was a visit of love. I post this blog to ask for prayer as we continue this journey of healing and searching for our loved ones. Your prayer will give us strength to walk and find what the Lord wants us to find and to know what he desires for us to know.

With Love, Heather, Lizzy and Leah

Calling ALL Teenagers!

On Sunday, July 25 during our 10:30 Worship Service everyone who went to camp is invited to speak to the Church about their camp experience. Everyone wants to hear all about your time there and how you feel about it. So please think about what you might like to say. You can say a lot or you can say a little. You can prepare something to say or you can just start talking. Also, if you are a teenager and didn't go to camp, you are also invited to speak on Sunday (or any Sunday for that matter) But, if you have a testimony or anything to add to our Worship Service please feel free to come and share.

Thank You,

Kelly

The Hedgehog in Arcadia

Nashville guitarist Richard Smith and cellist Julie Adams will return to the Hedgehog on Friday evening, July 23 at 8:00 pm for a performance that has received high-acclaim across the country.  Originally from England, Richard is considered by many to be one of the top guitarists in the world today.  His genre spans bluegrass to classical to swing.  His ability to play in the styles of Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, and Django Reinhardt has earned him a reputation that is truly unbelievable for his young age.  Pull up the YouTube video of Richard performing with Chet Atkins when Richard was just 11 years old.  Imagine now how great he is.  Julie Adams is in high-demand in the Nashville studios.  She is extremely talented, winning a Grammy Award along side Suzy Bogguss for the 2005 Folk Album of the Year.  Richard and Julie have performed at the Hedgehog in the past to a near-capacity crowd, and everyone walks away thankful that they had the opportunity to see and hear these two talents together.  Call me at 317-691-1207 to reserve advance seats for just $20.  Tickets at the door are $25.  Visit www.richardsmithmusic.com

Food Pantry Newsletter from WRCC Submitted by Bev (thanks Bev)

Hello everyone. We had 71 families including 7 new families this past Thursday. We continue to see Gods hand at work in the lives of the pantry guests and recipients.  Many hugs, smiles and stories are shared each week. Many come as much for the prayers and opportunity to be uplifted as they do the food.
Unfortunately, our shelves are getting desperately low. We are in need of cereal, sugar, flour, pop tarts, cake or brownie mixes, all canned vegetables, fruits or soup, jelly, canned meat, refried beans, pasta, pasta sauce, toilet paper, shampoo, deodorant and toothbrushes and dish soap. We had several families coming in asking for soap and deodorant this past week and we unable to give them any since we are out. A couple of moms also asked for toothbrushes but we are out of those as well.
As produce is started to ripen please remember to bring them in as well. There is nothing better than Indiana grown vegetables. Items can be dropped off Monday thru Thursday at the annex from 9-2. Please keep the pantry in your prayers as many wonderful things are happening there. If you have any questions, please email me. Thanks for all of your prayers and donations.

Prayers Needed

Just received an email from Bonnie Zarins asking for prayer. Her husband Viz is in intensive care at Methodist Hospital with a brain anurisym. They are waiting to speak with a doctor concerning this, but I know this is worrisome to them. We all need to stand behind them in prayer at this time. It appears that he will be there for at least a week until all is clear and they can keep a close watch on him. They are precious people who are very much a part of our Church Family and they need our support right now.

Church Basement Ladies

Beef & Boards has cooked up a great recipe for laughter with the debut of Church Basement Ladies July 22. Inspired by the best-selling book "Growing Up Lutheran" by Janet Martin and Suzann Nelson, this nondenominational musical comedy is dedicated to those stalwart ladies who volunteer to work in the church basement kitchen. The show follows four women as they prepare food, keep the pastor on due course and solve the problems of a rural church in 1964. Script by Jim Stowell and Jessica Zuehlke, music and lyrics by Drew Jansen. On stage through Aug. 29.

Sunday trip to Quaker Haven

Since we are leaving immediately following Church Sunday, I think it would be a good idea if we all dressed casual for Church. I'm sure the congregation will understand and that will keep us from having to take time to change clothes. I'm trying to decide if this preacher should wear shorts and a t-shirt for church or do you think that is over the top???? LOL! I just want to be comfortable and cool! Tell me what you think!

Imaginary freedom

Decide nothing more

Just what you’re made for

And then we‘ll fly away

Don’t listen to what they say

The ocean’s mist

And our bucket list

In our heads and heart

Nothing can tear us apart

To the jungle’s heat

Or to the snowy beat

Don’t stay too long

We can never go wrong

The blue skies above

We’ll sore like a dove

Try not to fall to fast

This should forever last

We’ll search for the sun

If we find trouble we’ll run

Danger may follow us

But we’ll never make a fuss

We’ll sleep in the trees

And swim in the seas

The animals will play

And we’ll have a lot to say

We will always be free

As long as its you and me

Together we’ll fight

Even in moonlight

Maybe there’s hope in the end

Maybe there’s love I can send

Even if we never leave

Its all real, if we believe

:) I am so sorry I haven't been to church lately! I miss everyone! I have also had a hard time writing poems lately, but I finally got my inspiration and talent back. I hope you all like this one, it is somewhat different than the others. Thank you!

From WRCC Food Pantry-submitted by Bev Stewart

Friends
What a beautiful week of weather that the Lord has blessed us with. Hopefully everyone is getting a chance to enjoy it. There were 105 families at the pantry yesterday including 8 new ones.  They were assisted by 25 volunteers including some first timers. On Tuesday 18 volunteers came out to help stock shelves, pour laundry soap, label shelves and make family size portions out of some of our bulk donations. It really takes a lot of hands to make the pantry run each week. Thank you for everything you do to help others.
Since it was "laundry soap week" each family got their detergent. In addition they received yogurt and their groceries and bread.  We are EXTREMELY low on everything except snacks. We need canned green beans, corn, peas, mixed vegetables, cereal, pop tarts, sugar, crackers, jelly, diapers, toilet paper, ramon noodles.
If each family would bring in just 1 can of something it would make a tremendous difference in someones life. The families come in for food but leave feeling someone cares for them and they are worthy of being hugged and prayed for.  Don't forget to share fresh vegetables with others as they become ripe as well.
Thank you for all of your donations.

Wasps Nest REPORT

Hello everyone! The wasp nest is GONE! Mike went to the church last night and removed it. He borrowed a bee keepers hood from a friend and had on gloves and long sleeves and did not get stung. He had wasp spray on a long stick and a dry wall scraper on another long stick. Being prepared and having the right tools being essential in a case like this. :)
So he used the foaming spray and it trapped the wasps in the nest. He said he could hear them buzzing around in there getting angry. So then standing on the second rung of the ladder he scraped the nest away from the soffett (is that the right word?) and he said it came loose and fell and hit the siding and bounced off the rim of the trash can waiting below and hit the concrete and busted open. So he scooped up the nest with the scraper and stomped on the wasps.
He said he missed the bottom rung of the ladder because he got a little excited when the nest cracked open. But he's okay. :)
I was at home sleeping.
Thank you Mike!
