So thank you institutional church for:
  • Bringing the church to the masses. The early church was an underground movement that went against the flow of culture and acceptable beliefs. Thanks to Constantine in 313 for making it a legitimate religion that could be practiced without persecution. First in Rome, and presently in most countries around the world.
  • Valuing education. Many of the fist schools and universities were started by institutional churches, so we must recognize the value organized church has had on our society.
  • Caring for the poor. Historically taking the lead on caring for the poor and needy locally and globally.
  • Being there easy to find. When someone moves to town, or suffers a loss and wants to fellowship with God's children all they need to do is flip through a phone book, or drive around looking for a certain type of building.
  • Being an example of people seeking God. In every 'church' I've visited I've witnessed evidence of people who love God and desire to follow Him.
  • Sunday School. I am thankful for the Bible knowledge children gain from Sunday School programs.
  • Programs for youth. I am thankful that 'churches' give youth a place to hang out and have fun together with the bonus of some good instruction.
  • Being a meeting place. Institutional churches are a great place to meet great people to build relationships with so we can practice encouraging each other, loving each other, accepting one another, teaching each other, praying for each other, serve each other, offering hospitality to one another, not judging each other, ...
  • Having great godly workers. I have no doubt that most 'full time' Christian workers are some of the most dedicated examples of Christ followers around.
I believe in God,
the God,
the only God,
who created everything
and reigns as King
over earth, sky, and water,
Sovereign and Holy,
and yet revealing Himself
in the intimacy of the name
“Father”.
He reigns over the nations; He is seated on his holy throne.
Psalm 47:8

And I believe in Jesus Christ,
the Son,
the only-begotten Son
whose reign began
in the weakness of a manger-bed,
conceived by the Spirit
and born of a virgin,
who reigned
even while nailed to a cross of wood;
who died and rose again, ascended and will come again.
He will reign forever; and his kingdom will never end.
Luke 1:33

And I believe in the Spirit,
the Holy Spirit,
the Spirit of God
who as God Himself
brings the presence of God
and extends the reign of God
in every believer and throughout the world,
who ever directs hearts
to our Lord and Savior,
so that grace might reign … to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:21

Prayers Needed

I just received a call from Larry Addy asking for prayer for Dave Elmore. Dave is the man who played the piano and sung for us a week ago during Sunday Services. He had a flare up with his heart and is down at Vetern's Hospital undergoing tests. So, I assured Larry we would all be in prayer for Dave. He is a wonderful man who has blessed us several times with his gift of music. Thanks!

Food Pantry Newsletter from WRCC Submitted by Bev (thanks Bev)

Friends
Another busy afternoon at the pantry with 105 families including 22 new ones. We had a total of 36 volunteers that helped us and 14 volunteers on Tuesday that worked getting ready for today. Many, many people remain unemployed and are trying to find work. We have moms with kids that are ready to be evicted and families living without utilities.  We ask for your prayers for these families and for our volunteers to have the right words of encouragement and direction to give the families.
Our top needs this week include oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup, sugar, cake or brownie mix, jelly, soups (except tomato) shampoo, toothpaste and diapers any size. Please consider bringing in some items the next time you come to church. Have your kids pick out some things to help a family going through a difficult time. We are so grateful for everything that is donated. If it were not for your giving hearts we would not be able to keep the pantry going.  If you don't have time to shop and would like to donate a gift card, we would be happy to shop for you.
We are continuing to collect paper bags and empty liquid laundry soap containers. We can recycle those and put them to good use.
"I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters, or mother or father or children or property for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times over houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and property." Mark 10:29

A message from Bev

Hey  I was just looking at the Kroger ad and do they have some good bargins.  Lots of 10 for $10.00  Dole pineapple, Mandarin oranges, tooth paste and tooth, brushes, shampoo, bath soap, deodorant, pasta and sauce, bags of salad, mimi carrots, frozen vegetables, butter, sunny d juice.    Big Lots has Flavor Ice and slushies to freeze.  I heard those go over big with the kids.  I always hope I have some extra grocery money to stock up on the $1.00 items.because some weeks I don’t have things to donate.  And they need food and supplies every week.  They always thank me for Hinkle’s help.  I make sure they know it’s not just my donation but also the churches.  I just deliver it.

I have a lot of things to take today that was brought last Sunday. Thanks to all for your generosity.  Would you believe I found hot dogs for 79 cents.  So the kids will like that.

From White River Food Pantry

Hello
A father of 4 that has been out of work for the past several months, a middle aged woman that can barely walk and living on disabiltiy, a senior citizen living on a small social security check.  These are the faces that visit our food pantry on a weekly basis. Some people need our help for a week or two and some need it for months. Food is a necessity of life and we need your help. Our pantry is EXTREMELY LOW on almost everything.  Last Thursday we had 95 families including 15 new families. We were blessed with 25 volunteers that helped out.
Items most needed are cereal, pancake mix and syrup, Canned fruit, canned vegetables, soups (other than tomato) jelly, canned meat, toiletries, and diapers any size.  We had a youngster in the kids room last week who's diaper was so full that pieces of cotton were all over the room. She was given diapers and the youngster was changed before she went home.
Meijer has their 10 for $10 sale, get the 11th item free.  Kroger has select Kellog cereals on sale for 1.88 and Dole fruit select brands for 10 for $10.

These families not only get food from us but much needed hugs, prayer and a place of refuge from all of the issues they have going on. Our needs will be higher in the next couple of months since many of our families children were receiving free breakfast and lunch at school. Please consider sharing your blessings with others.

THIS SUNDAY

Remember this Sunday is our monthly fellowship breakfast and Monthly Meeting following Service! Hope everyone can come to the breakfast! We always have a nice time of fellowship and food!

Summer!!!

Good Morning everyone I just wanted to wish you all a great weekend!! See you Sunday!

REMEMBER THE CHALLENGE!

Just want to remind everyone about the challenge to bring TOOTHPASTE for the food pantry this Sunday! The pantry is getting very low on many items, so your help would be appreciated. There will be a special bag in the foyer to collect other toilet articles for the Moms and Dads and also treats for the children that are served by the food pantry. The bag will be kept there for a couple of weeks to give everyone a chance to contribute. Remember our sign above the door????? "You are now entering the Mission Field". What a better way than helping families that are in our community! Thank you all for your help in this wonderful outreach!

Bible Study tonight! Help please?

I received word from Will that he and Casey will NOT be able to attend Bible Study tonight, so I will attempt to lead it. We are going to study Chapter 30 of Genesis and I would like to ask all of you to try to read and study it ahead of time so we can have a good discussion. The chapter is about the jeolousy of Rachael over Leah having all the babies and tells Jacob that she will die if he does not bare her children. Jacob asks her if she thinks he is God and able to cause that to happen. The discussion will focus around jeolousy and rivlary in a family. If I'm a bit late, it is because I need to go to the calling at the funeral home for Betty McDonald's brother. So, if I'm not there to unlock the church - don't give up on me - I'll be there! Bob

Prayer needed

We as a Church Family need to lift up Betty McDonald in your prayers today. Her brother (Bill Phillips) who we have had on our prayer list died suddenly last evening with a heart attack. Betty is in shock over his sudden death and now is a time when she needs her Church Family to stand in proxy and lift her up. Our deep sympathy goes out to her and her family.
